I have a problem. My training is going so well that I’m thinking of forgetting 6 plates and just trying 600. a little over two years ago I jumped to 600 from 570 done two months prior. I missed it close for me, right off the floor. I tried it again two months later with the same result.
This was when the gall bladder issue was bothering me. I’m actually higher now with the band deadlift now than when I missed the six hundred by 15 pounds. This week I’ll try 400 against the bands, when I hit that I’ll probably shoot for 600 nine days later.
I don’t consider that a problem. Just don’t even think about the outcome from your prior entanglement with 6 bills and blast that shit off the ground.

I use the jump stretch platform from the beginning, maybe you can put the lips of some 100s on the sides to help weigh it down? I can’t think of anything else, since I don’t know the size of it.
I could probably rig something up with some eye bolts or something or even use the short bands that Elite is selling these days and double them up under my rack. It sucks when a piece of equipment you buy (second hand, too) isn’t what you thought it would be.
on this note, i want to start pulling against bands but dont have a js platform to pull on. does anyone have any other ideas on how to set this up at a gym?
The problem is that it requires two extra bars and in a crowded gym that might not be popular, but other than that it works. Standing on the band can be an option too, not a big fan of that though since the band tends to slack at the bottom (works best for sumo pullers).

I’m thinking along the line of last time I tried to make a bigger jump than planned then missed. I know I would have pulled six plates. that would put 600 closer. I think my head might have been better if I had a success the last time.
Take the pr or take the milestone? Which is a pr of course. I’ll find out these last two weeks. One advantage is my son training for his first meet this 9/11. Tom Jr. Is looking at app 265 raw, 165-180, and 360+. I might allow him a shot at 400 if he blows up 360 on his second very strongly.
Him looking to me and learning from me inspires me to keep chugging.

That’s cool. Our first child is actually due on 9/11 and hopefully someday my boy will be learning the iron sport from me someday.
The second was slow and grinding with a bit of hitching at the top. My lockout is getting quite frustrating. So, all that is left is an opener next Saturday and a meet the following. And this will tie into Tom’s “problem”. I am debating my jumps. With a current best of 575, I would like to top that on my second lift and preferable 6 plates (585).
What kind of jumps are you comfortable with in a meet? It is a full meet, so it will come down to how I am feeling and of course I would like to win so I will have my total in mind.
Regarding your issue Tom, how will you schedule your jumps using either 585 or 600?
Good luck to everyone, I was in the old thread but hit my 600 a week and a half ago at the APF TX Challenge (I was a 198). Pretty fucking awesome to do.

Hey good to hear Matt. I take it the knee is all healed up now, right?

ehh, I’m in the high 90%'s healingwise so close enough for government work. I still can’t kneel, stairs a little icky, but fuck it you only live once.

You might take less sets. If I remember right, I went 135, 225, 315, 405, 495 in warmups. 1st attempt was 523, then 562, then 600. I really think I mighta had more in me too.
Pulled 400 against the bands for a new pr. Before when I was knocking at six hundred I was at 370. I’m going to just drill it next week already.
I should be good with my rep scheme. Since I’m only deadlifting I’ll do singles from 275 up. Three meet lift, I’d fo something more like you laid out. But that day I won’t be warmed up with squats from earlier.
The shirt was a US Army sniper t shirt, rasta style Chuck Taylors with some old nasty shorts. Muisc was by Korn. I would have preferred the Dropkick Murphys, but Korn was on already.
