Wow. Nice deads.

Very good deads, I can’t imagine doing deads after cleans.

It’s been awhile since I’ve used a trap bar. I will say that because the weight is distributed evenly I didn’t shoot my hips like I do with conventional. It’s good stuff.

Hockey. Yeah. I’m there. Just finished three games this weekend. My son’s game season runs October thru March. It’s definitely a commitment. I’m glad we’re a two-parent family between my daughter’s gymnastics meets and my son’s hockey games. I don’t know how people manage the schedules of more than two kids.

Eco: Have you gotten skinny?

Thanks Canada_K. I’m taking it slow. Building back up to what I was pulling a year ago.

Joe,the cleans get me primed for the deads. Nothing to strenuous.

KP,I haven’t gotten any ‘fatter’. Does that count? Hockey’s an expensive and time consuming sport. But I love it. Did you and the family watch the all star game this weekend?

Big deads and big cleans… I think you will be pulling those really big numbers soon enough

I use snatches to “prime” myself for squats. I found DB jump squats to be even better, but they are much tougher on the knees.

What’s happened to all your strongman stuff? Have you got too much snow?

Brett, you’re right about the chins and semi sumo. I’ve pulled 550 a few times. But only once in competiton a year or two ago. I think I can still pull at least 500.

Just got back from Syracuse. My son and I had a great time. The team lost every game but he did well and hung out will all his teammates in the pool and playing knee hockey. I hung out with the parents and drank Jim Beam and diet gingerale. [/quote]

I swear, regardless of the how the tournament goes, my son and his teammates have so much fun in the pool and playing knee hockey, it doesn’t matter if they win or lose.

Thanks Wilson. Nothing impressive. Just keeping myself north of vag.

Brett, that’s exactly why the strongman stuff has stopped. There’s snow up to my hips in spots. So I’ll do some 5/3/1 until it melts.

Hockey is definitely a lifestyle.

The good news is, my son’s home rink shares a building with a health club. The bad news is…it’s Planet Fitness! It used to be an independent gym that was pretty good, but changed to a Planet Fitness about six months ago. It was the first place I started working out - I would work out while my son skated. It changed too much after it became a PF, and I quit a couple of months later. I still work out while he’s on the ice a couple of nights a week, but now I drop him off and drive a couple of miles down the road.

Exactly. With a good groups of kids, parents and coaches it doesn’t matter if you win or lose. Everyone has a good time.
Don’t know it you play NH teams but my youngest is on the Avalanche and my oldest the Monarchs.

I was asked to stop deadlifting at a PF several years ago. I cancelled my membership that day and have lifted at home ever since.

Lifting at home FTW.

“it doesn’t matter if you win or lose.” Huh? lol

Skip,it doesn’t matter if you win or lose just how you play the game. Right?

My trap bar came in today. I’m pumped. My traps are gonna ache tomorrow. The fat dbs are 2.5 inches. They felt great.

1/31
1a.MP 135x5,165x5,185x5,205x1,1
1b.chins 25x3,3,3 BWx10
2a.bench 225x5x10 reps
2b.trap bar shruggs 6 sets
3a.fat db curls 3 sets
3b.fat db lateral raises 3 sets

Love my new toy. Can’t wait to crank out some BBB deads with it. Lots of trap DOMS today.

mmmm traps.

2/2
1.walk in 3 feet of snow to shed
2.shovel to get shed door open
3.roof rake
4.snow blow driveway and deck
5.shovel path for oil and natural gas guys
6.skip squat workout because I’m old and snow removal kicked my butt

That sounds like conditioning to me, miserable but conditioning.

Indeed. But it is much more fun to play it right AND win.
Although, my foray into college football was with a team that was not very good. I had to take my pleasure from my own performance, and ignore the score.

What was the temp?

snowwork sounds like fun… right?
