A bloat or not, tightening up a notch feels really good! Youre putting up some really envious numbers Steve. [/quote]
Thanks Wilson. Always good to hear from you.
Squat article on the main page is a good read. I like the seperate description for geared and raw lifters. Lifting raw I need to bring my stance in a little bit more according to the article.
Dieting for 7 days. Hitting the pissed off stage. I’d push over and old woman for a candy bar or stiff drink right now. Squats and MP press tonight. Hoping to do something stupid like high rep squat or sled pulling over a long distance. Figure it out later.

Day 7 to 11 are usually the worst for me…
Pete,I’m around 265 but I was up to 275 last week. A lot of water weight loss I’m sure. Man oh man I love to eat a ton and drink ever night. But my left knee and blood work are telling me its time to get into the 242 weight class.
Ddot, thanks for stopping in. This is the longest I’ve held out on a diet in years. Usually around days 3-5 I crack.

Don’t you have to keep up with your iron brother MM? If I’m not mistaken, he’s around the 250 level now.
yeah, water bloat can be amazing when you are say 240lb plus. just some simple manipulations can make me lose or gain 10lbs very very fast.
Congratulations on your win tonight!
Punnyguy,MM is a freak of nature. Lose weight while getting stronger. I just can’t do it. Remember I’m the better looking brother.
Pete, the first 10 lbs go so fast then the real work starts. 260 lbs on my home scale this morning.
Ddot, still keeping at it. No sugar, booze or wheat for over a week. I think eating fruit and not being super low carb is helping me not to binge. Blueberries, strawberries and raspberries have been my desert lately.

1a.squat 375x5,425x3,473x3,315x5 (wanted to do more reps but it didn’t happen)
1b. MP 1st rep cleaned 165x5,195x3,215x6,135x30
I tried shoulder width squats. It was to close. I felt like I wanted to fall forward.
Went on a field trip yesterday with my youngest. The Flume Gorge and Cannon Mtn Tram. We did a lot of hiking. My legs are feel a bit tired this morning.
Great training and weight loss here. Atkins/Protein Power is the only way I can lose weight. I started on Monday at 301, friday at 291. Too bad every week won’t be like that…
I squat with my feet a little narrower than shoulder width, feet/knees pointed out about 30°. So my knees are shoulder width. sit way back and let the hammies do it.

MJ,the Atkins worked wonders for me the one time I was able to stick to it. But failed terribly the 100 other times I’d start then binge after 2 days. Thats why I’m adding fruit and nuts to the mix. Seems to satisfy me when I’m craving Captain Crunch or ice cream.

Felt great tonight but didn’t feel like going over 5 reps on anything. Had a huge cheat day on Sunday. Total carbo loading. But was happy I got back on the diet Monday morning.
Why are you changing up your squat stance?
Shoulder width for me would be so, so narrow. But I have very narrow shoulders.
I like these past few sessions - nice work
how do you like the trap bar?
cant remember if we spoke about that.
KP,been reading raw squatters should have a narrower stance. Wanted to give it a try. A little wider then shoulder width seems to work best for me.
Kevin,I like the trap bar. But I wouldn’t stop doing regular deads for trap bar deads. Quite a different exercise (at least for me). The entire center of gravity is different.

Why? Curious because I’ve recently changed my stance from slightly wider than shoulder width to way way wider. Both raw and geared.

I’ve been widening my squat stance but mine was really narrow so I think I might be just about where you’re at right now.
I like the trap bar - more as a way to deload the spine.
then as an alternative to pulling.
