New Hampshire Lifter II

You’re still a baby. Nice deadlifting with the trapbar.

A baby who can double as a movie screen. That comment about your back remains with me.

Harry, I act like a baby sometimes.

Biker, the comment may stay with you but I have to live with this movie screen on my back. #movieonmyback

  1. Front squats + chains barx10 95,135,185,225,275x5
  2. Military press + chains barx10 95,115x5 135x3 95x10
  3. Wide grip sldl 135x5 sets

My low back is feeling very tender so I kept the sldl really light. Just went through the motions.

  1. Seated deadlift 135x2x3 185x2x3 225x2x3 275x3
  2. 4’’ block deadlift 315x3 365x3 405x3 455x3 505x3
  3. Row+deadlift combo 315x3x10
  4. Chin-ups BWx3x5

I’m not sure I did the seat deadlifts correctly but they felt hard.

I saw this huge guy doing the row deadlift combo so I gave it a try. I’ve been a little nervous about tearing a bicep so I’ve been using the straps for heavier deads.

First, 315# rows are extremely adequate and when followed by the deads nearing impressive. The 505 x 3. I thought I was watching Hafthor. Seriously, very good. Do you find straps help a lot? I’ve never used them but just ordered a very cheap pair off ebay. Since my squat is out plan on really hitting the deads for a while. On another note. Have you watched the Arnold Strong man? The one competitor, Mateusz Kieliskowski, put the 451# stone on his shoulder 4 times.

I did watch the entire stone lifting event on youtube. I can’t believe how easily that Polish strongman shouldered that stone. What made it even more impressive was that Brian Shaw couldn’t shoulder it and Hafthor only shouldered it once or twice. Kieliskowski is young and needs to put on 100 lbs to be as big as Hafthor and Shaw.

I’ve been using straps because I’ve seen to many guys tear a bicep with the mixed grip. But aside from that they do help.

1a. Bench + mini bands bar,95,135,185,225x5 275x4
1b. Band pull aparts
2a. Single ply benchdaddy + mini bands 315x5 365x1,1,1
2b. Band pull aparts
3. Band pushdowns 2 set
4. Lying db tri ext 3 sets
5. Lateral raises 2 sets

Feeling good today. I like using the mini bands with bench. I think it’s easy to use too much band tension. It doesn’t take a big band with bench.

Steve- you eyeballing any meets? That 505 triple looked like it could have 10, boss !

How do you attach the bands on bench? At my gym the only way to do it is strap it to a dumbbell

Good morning Paul. No meets planned for me right now. I signed Kainen and his friend up for a meet on April 28th that I’ll be helping them out wth. You?

I have to use dbs for the band set up as well. I put 5 lb plates on the floor tight against the dbs to keep them from rolling.

Hey Buddy, no meet plans for me at the moment… In the back of my mind I’m targeting an RPS meet August…that’s down my way ( not sure if its even been posted yet) That’s awesome that K and his buddy are throwing down and you are acting as their coach and encouragement crew!! That should be a great take for you! Enjoy. And now you are going to make me do bands on bench! Have a great weekend

Nice set up.

Paul, is this the meet? Push/pull? Only 2.5 hours from my house. Could be fun.
