I’m a much bigger fan of the like button than I thought I was going to be.

Ha! That’s one of the threads I re-read. Hilarious!
Thanks Chris, You are right. My usual screen setting of 125% showed all the forums on the old site, but won’t show all with the new site. I changed to 100% and now the drop down menu shows all forums. Great:)
If they haven’t already started doing so, they’ll start tracking what each person visits to customize the site and ‘enhance user experience’ and all that bull-shit.
This isn’t new and it does have merit in certain situations. For example, when I was upgrading the RAM on my GF’s laptop, Amazon would track that and put up similar products on my subsequent visits. I knew they’d do this and I actually welcomed it so I can comparison shop.
But why would I want to open up Bigger, Stronger, Leaner just to read some DYEL poser back from 2012 when there are clowns like yogi posting on a near-daily basis? It’s the same drivel, different parrots…
So in the case of Amazon, it’s a good thing. Here, it’s intrusive and annoying.
People can always not log in, use vpn, etc. but the fact is they’re not going back to the old format. They see this new model as a way of increasing traffic and ultimately profits. And if they alienate a few disgruntled old timers along the way…trust me, they’re not exactly crying themselves to sleep.
Perhaps I’m getting a different interface but these suggested posts are the ones at the end of the thread? Not just the end but after the options that apply to the entire thread and the quick post goto and after the tracking option?
Are they that difficult to ignore? Aside from the shortest of threads, you actively need to go hunting to find the suggested posts…
Are you guys seriously getting this worked up about notifications on a website? If you see a “system” notification, or a recommendation for an old thread you have no interest in, just ignore it. For all the reasons to punch a computer in the face, this is not one of them.
Don’t know where to put this, so I’ll slide it in here. Please God tell whoever mods the facebook page thank you and keep up the good work. Slapping down stupidity and kicking the truth even if it isn’t nice and “safespace”.
Love it.
