I’m sorry about your hamstring ![]()
Believe me, being 19 isn’t ANY easier on injuries and pain. I gotta watch my back everywhere I go ![]()

Look at the universities in your area and check community centers. My kid pays 25$ a year for olympic level coaching at a community center in a regional club. Great avi btw!
Madam, you are a freaking genius!! I just found a place here in the city (well, Queens actually) that not only has ALL the amenities for Olympic lifting but also has coaches on hand, PLUS a team! And its run by the city - so all together for the entire year it will only cost $100.
SO EXCITED! I already spoke to the coach and he was very encouraging. I’ll keep you all posted.
And thanks again to all re: the avi ![]()
Hallowed, i’ll def check out the Lat throw and the DB swing. Thanks!!
Let me guess! This club you talk about goes by the name of “Lost Batallion Weightlifting”.
Edit: I just noticed the guy above posted the same thing as me lol…FAIL.
Hey Maschy, I was just going through my Faves list and found this website that I bookmarked.
I don’t really know anything about it, but might be interesting, no?
Fuck…I was all worried 'cause I thought you got mugged. Beeatch ![]()
Figured I’d just make “Help with New Program” my new log since so many of you have given tons of invaluable information and looove. Plus i’m a conservationist and I hear bandwidth is scarce these days.
Old log:
Recap:
Age - 30
Height - 5 feet 2 inches of pure Napolean complex
Weight - 130
Goals:
10 pullups/chinups in 2010
Get bigger, stronger, faster
Program Notes:
Hammie is on the mend so I’ll finish up the rest of the soccer season on the bench
Not currently lifting PLing style
Not currently lifting lower body (thanks to hammie)
I plan to start Olympic lifting as soon as hamstring is good to go
Also plan on FINALLY trying out for the women’s pro league early next year - already talked to the coach of SkyBlue - yay!
Right now I’m following DeFranco’s Built like a Badass and only doing upper body so I’m feeling a bit disproportionate.
Today’s training - Bit of weak-sauce due to hormones. (reminder - Sets x reps x weight)
supersetted:
pronated pullups - 4, 4, 3, 3, 2
bent over lat raises - 4x15x12.5
neutral grip pullups - 4, 2, 2, 2, 2
atlas pushups w/ feet elevated - 12, 10, 6, 8 < love these!
lat pulldowns wide grip - 25x50, 25x60
rolling tricep extensions - 8x12.5, 10x15, 5x20, 8x15
hammer curls - same rep scheme as tricpes…weird
I’m going to try my best to log as much as possible, but as you can see my workouts are far from interesting. But I’ll be back here and there for updates.
Thanks to all for the well wishes on the hamstring! I think its def much better this go-around than before. I’m doing PT twice a week, so I expect it will heal up soon.
KMC and Ronaldo - Hey guys! So you know of this place huh? Glad to hear its legit! I’m so excited to start Oly lifting. I think it will do wonders for me.
Nikki - That program looks awesome! Thanks for the info. I’ll keep it in my faves now…
Git! Hi!
Also, here’s that commercial I did way back when. I’m in the background running around when Hope Solo runs out to the pitch. You’d never know of course.
Alright kiddos. I’m out for the weekend, no training aside from taking a long walk and pilates. Meh.
Have a good one y’alls!
It’s great to have you back… officially ![]()
Uhm, ALL your posts are interesting. Especially when accompanied by an avvie like that! <3
Keep up the good work Dahlin.
Glenn Pendlay just posted a blog about how he goes about beginner weightlifting. Check it out.

Now its officially a good day. Mashy Logs Again!
Maschy!!! (huggles)
Glad the hammy is doing well. Quad imbalance is quite common in footballers (I refuse to call it soccer, I am British, goddamit) - I’m sure you’ll bounce back.
whoa! Pro league?! that’s no joke! :D!
5’2? No shit! I thought you were like 5’10. I can tower over you.
Re: hamstring
I’m not sure if this works for all such injuries, but have you tried working the antagonist muscle (quads, in this case) and icing/massaging the injured one?
Can you at least do something like the elliptical to get blood flowing?
And I don’t know how well this works for muscle pull, but I know it works well for joint pain (inflammation):
Cissus Quadrangularis: 2-3g a day for 2-3 weeks
(you can find it in bulk powder form)
Switch to curcumin ~ 1200 mg a day for 2 weeks and the back to cissus (if it helped the first time)
And you have to drink a shot of chimichurri and curse the heavens as you smash the glass on the ground right after.
Thanks for the warm welcome back everyone. Esp the vid! (Rock, i’m half Armenian, if you know what I mean…and i think you do)
Cal, I prefer the term football too. But as an American I’m afraid I’ll just look like a douche if I say it. HA!
Lol! Great recs Ponce, I’m going to look into those supps. Chimichurri is the shiz. I’ll try not to get a piece of Oregano stuck in my throat…
And you’re right about the blood flow for the hammie, which is why I decided to sneak into the gym today and test the little bitch out.
Did a nice little warm-up - jogging, high knees, dynamic stretches. Then did some jump rope, but about 6 mins in I had to stop because my arms were on FIRE. Then I tried some BW squats and started to feel the hammie…ugh.
Still I was happy. This pull isn’t as bad as the last one, so I have high hopes that I can get one last game in.
Anywho, since i’ve been feeling gross and flabby I finished with some hypers w 10lbs and then something I call the Brazilian Butt Workout!! Feel the burn…
Got home, ice then heat on the hammie and great big meal of pork chops, some green veg, baked apple, and i kid you not, 1 and a half eggplants, roasted…mmm…i’m addicted to eggplant. Its insane.
And now a disco nap ![]()
a disco nap?? care to explain to the slow frenchie?
eggplant sucks!

It can be a bit bitter, but its so unusual in both taste and texture you have to give it points for originality, at least. I especially love Thai green eggplant when used in curry mmmm, I have some leftovers in the fridge.
