I have no idea what state he’s in, but unless he’s in one of the few states where open carry is legal (i’d have to look it up, but I think there is only like 4 or 5), by law it has to be concealed, assuming you have you permit. Open carry where it’s not legal means a brandishing charge and probably 3 or 4 other firearm charges and all the bad things that come with it. You can’t carry a gun on you legally, unless you have your CCW.
Open carry can be deterrent, but then again do you want everyone knowing you’re strapped? Then they know you have a firearm in the place and may break in when you’re not home looking for it.

Hey everyone, thanks for all the replies. Well, day 2 and so far so good. I think my letter to the office got someone off his ass because there was a note on the board this morning addressing the issue, as well as a few others. People actually keep dogs in these apartments…
Anyways, as I was leaving this morning I heard the welfare queen screaming something about “punk ass mother fucker something or other”, I really couldn’t make it out all that well. I swear, this woman is the typical welfare ghetto queen. every other word out of her mouth is motherfucker. Anyways, I know she was talking about me because I heard her cute little diatribe on my way down the stairs, and she made sure she said it loud enough so I could hear it.
These people all know each other, something I forgot when I called the police. Now this situation involves the other three apartments in this complex, including the drug dealer on the first floor, and the welfare queen on the second floor. I have the awful feeling that this thing is going to boil over and someone is going to get hurt.
This is just stupid. Why do these people act like this?
My sister and I discussed this and our best option would be to simply cut our losses and get the hell away from here. It is too bad for us because rent is so cheap here, but it isn’t worth getting hurt over. It’s like the city has designated this area to be the garbage dump for all the degenerates.
Well, I am not afraid anymore. If they come for me, so be it. I will be ready. There are only 4 of them, but I think the welfare queen has at least 2 baby daddys that will want to get in on it too, so i expect 3-5 thugs to jump me soon. Who knows, maybe I need to get my ass kicked, right?

I fully respect your opinion, but you don’t understand the situation fully. We have dealt with these people for the past 6 months. We have tolerated so much from these people. The loud noise, the music, the constant partying, the fights in the hallway, the drug use in the stariwell, the vandalism, it has just reached a breaking point. The leasing office is very lenient with them, I have tried to confront them once, and I was ignored. I felt I was out of options, they won’t listen to me, or the leasing office, but I know they will listen to the police.
Your whiny little bitch comment was not neccessary. I am not about to start a full on war with these people by kicking down doors and splitting skulls. These people are wrong. They are in the wrong. I know they know it, they know damn well what the rules are here, the welfare queen has lived here for several years, so I know damn well that she knows it.
In fact, I have talked briefly with many other people about this, and no one tells me that I was wrong to call the police first. No one should have to tolerate this shit. Their music was so loud that 2 pictures fell off our wall. They know damn well that their music is too loud, I should not have to remind them of it.
I just dont understand why these people think that they can do whatever they want here. They seem to ignore the fact that other people live here too. If they are too broke to go to the club, that is their problem, not mine. They don’t own this place. They can’t do as they please. They simply have to respect other people’s rights to quiet enjoyment. Those are the rules, I respect the rules, so why can’t they?

I call 311 every single time; and they know I do. Trust me, there are many quiet residents that appreciate that the OP has taken the first step in taking back his building from the African Zulu tribal type element that has taken over. Onto defensive measures. Yes, buy a firearm. But do NOT buy a firearm if you aren’t willing to kill someone if you have to. Make it either a 16" AR-15 with hollow points or a Saiga-12. The hollow points will prevent overpenetration. That little pistolly shotgun thing is cute, but under stress in your first combat situation you’re going to fire off those three shots as fast as when you got your first blowjob when you were 15. And unlike then, you won’t be hitting anyone in the face.
As for shotguns, don’t expect them to pattern! Up close your pattern will be tight. You also have to consider your sister dealing with a 12G. She can shoot an AR-15 and you will have 28 rounds to hit your target. For shotties, a Saiga-12 will give you plenty of ammo in a reliable semi-auto.
For pistols. Carry, but practice! Pistols are hard to be accurate with even at very close ranges unless you practice. Do not feel as if you are invincible with a pistol. You can get sucker punched or stabbed and killed before you ever even think of drawing your pistol.
If you were in a free state (re: Idaho) you could open carry, but I still wouldn’t advocate it. I used to OC, but now I CC because advertising you have a weapon is a good way to make sure they will either steal it while you’re gone if it’s a long gun or make sure they surprise you before you draw a pistol. It could also make you a desirable target for getting shot because criminals can’t buy guns legally, so they have to get them illegally.
Calling the cops was bad, but not for any of the reasons some of these internet tough guys claim.

Tell your landlord you want out or will sue him for damages from this point forward. He or she can not uphold a lease that could potentially cause harm to you or your property.

There are real structural reasons why the rent is so cheap. You do not know that low rent districts are notorious for higher crime rates?
