Obviously 1. I’m up at 2 a.m. after drinking my preworkout at 7 p.m.
But on a serious note, does anyone know the half life of caffeine?

Depending on several factors, between three and five hours. Caffeine is a difficult substance to pin down since each person’s body tolerates it differently.

Im with you Chobbs, Nothing caffeinated after about 2pm for me or i cant sleep.
It has an affect on me for at least 8hrs.
I use to get this way, but now that I drink 2-4 cups of coffee every single day of my life I can have a cup around 6pm and go to sleep at about midnight.
Gonna try and hit the gym RIGHT at 5:30 to try and see if that helps, or just keep the caffeine on my squat days.
Well, there is a physiological adaptation that happens. Not going to say it’s addictive by any means, but your body builds a tolerance to it, requiring increasingly stronger use to get the same effects, and then experiences withdrawal after that adaptation has happened.
Higher dosages can cause heart palpitations and arrhythmia, as well as jitteriness (technical term there) and anxiety.
Caffeine can interfere with sleep patterns as much as 12 hours after consumption, some researchers suggest even longer.
Oddly enough, once in a while, a small cup of coffee with a bit of milk can actually help me sleep.
But I’m a freak.

Now that you mention it, i used to be able to pound a few mountain dews right before bed and sleep no problem.
Then i laid off the pop for a few years and one cup of coffee gives me the shakes.
Yeah caffeine half life is about 6hours. It affects sleep quality even if you fall asleep.
I tested myself once and stayed caffeine-free for two weeks, and then drank one cup of coffee in the morning and I got to sleep 3h later than usual. On another occasion, when I was highly stressed and didnt workout for 2 months I drank some 300mg caffeine shots for a week and I feel like with the combination of high stress I become more stupid after that (less attention/less long term memory).
Now I am bb again with one cup of coffe in the morning trying to rejuvenate my hippocampus…
<3 caffeine
it’s good to restrict it after a certain time of the day as well as go through periods of low/no caffeine. I don’t think caffeine is the devil, but it does mess with cortisol levels and sleep if you’re going through a lot
OP, what if it isn’t caffeine itself, but all those other stims in your PWO that are keeping you up?
DMAA fucks my sleep patterns up badly, the first time I took Jack3d I couldn’t sleep for two days. After a while it got better and now I tolerate it easily if taken until 7pm.

It certainly could be this, but I buy all my PWO ingredients in bulk and make my own so I know exactly what I’m getting
And are there any stims besides caffeine?
No sir, only caffeine, arginine, citrulline malate, creatine, beta-alanine, and agamatine on some upper body days.
Caffeine can also hinder the absorption of creatine.
^Did not know this, but I just looked at next semester’s schedule and everyday I’ll have to lift at the earliest 7:30 p.m. so I can’t use it then, so I might as well get used to it.

I thought that myth had been debunked. Wouldn’t that make pre-workouts a complete nonsense?
fuck jack3d. tried it for like 2 weeks, slept like shit, especially the first two times AND got stimdick after the first time.
no thank you, i’ll keep my boners and my sleep
Never heard of stimdick lmfao whiskeydick = stimdick ?

Stimdick is the condition one is subject to facing after taking moderate to heavy doeses of stims. You just can’t get it up. Most people linked it to DMAA, but it’s inconclusive.
I never had it and I consider myself a stim junkie. The only noticeable difference it’s that it takes way longer for you to reach orgasm, which to me is a total plus.
