Need to Lose 6+ Pounds In 2 Days

It’s 8:30 on Wednesday night. I weighed 187lb this morning on an empty stomach. I must get under 181 for a meet that I’ll weigh in for on Friday night.

My plan is:

-Nothing but protein shakes tomorrow
-No food/water Friday
-Wear lots of clothing and turn the heat on full blast in the car on my way to the meet weigh-ins.

I don’t have access to a sauna or hot bath. Any other suggestions?

Protein = EFA’s (fish oil) will probably do the trick. Not healthy, but its not long term. If your not dropping weight fast enough I guess you could sweat it out.

Take a big dump right before weigh in.

Sounds good. Have some carbs with breakfast tomorrow AM I’d say.

Also I usually use 15g of vitamin C spread 3 times (5g a time) throughout the day taking them on a thursday for a saturday weigh in.

I dropped 4-5kg (10-12lbs I think) doing something similar.

Also suck some hard candy and spit as much as possible.

GO to the toilet if you can before hand. The vitamin C should have you shittig a lot.

All these things will help!

6lbs is nothing.

6-7 pounds isn’t too much weight unless you’re already pretty dehyrdated. As long as you cut out water for a day or two you should be fine, stop worrying.

Buy a chainsaw and take it out to the woods and cut for about 8 hours. I did it on Saturday and I lost 8 pounds… Not by choice…

sounds about right.

Also get something sour or maybe some starburts…

start spitting a lot. 16oz of spit is 1lb… never know what you need when you get down to the wire.

Hell save the 8 hours and just take a limb off.

You should have no prob bor just the water like other said should take care of that.

What’s the purpose behind the vitamin C recommendation?

Try this link from Elite. Soaking in a very hot bath with only your nose above the water appears to be more effective than a sauna.

Good luck. Should be no problem.

Vitamin C in larger doses (varies from individual to individual-“bowel tolerance limit”) will cause diarrhea which in turn can cause a decrease in bodyweight. This effect can be mitigated with a reduction in the dosage. I assume that is the reasoning for the vitamin C recommendation.

Was going to say this as well and have been thinking lately. would it not be even more effective to salt the hell out of the water dump a few lbs in there it cheap that would cost all of $2.

I mean when you swin or SCUBA etc in the ocean you get thirty and dehydrated as hell.

Wear 2 or 3 trash bags as shirts under a sweatshirt while lifting/running before your weigh in.

I heard a boxer on TV one time that said when he needs to lose weight fast (for example, a weigh-in) he took a lot of Ex-Lax, and handled his business in the bathroom.

This is more of a procedure 30-90 minutes before weigh-in, but if it comes to it, it might be the way to go.

Good Luck with everything, and let us know the results of the weigh-in.

Yup you’re dead right. Even with 15g a day I notice very little effects for about 24 hours. Hence my recommendation to take it 48 hours before weigh in so you have a chance to “drop” the extra weight.

But as DC said. Tolerance levels vary. So becareful.

Good Old T-Nation
I have a meet on Saturday and I’m 3lbs over with 2 days to go.

I was planning on very little in the way of carbs until after the weigh in and some restriction of water. When I’ve made weight I was going to have a carb drink.

I was also going to do some bag work (kicking and punching) in an attempt to sweat it out.

Does that about right or am I being a wuss (pussy) for even worrying about it.

Chris

When you get to within 2 days it’s really all about the actual weight of what you are putting into your system. Obviously you don’t want to fill up with crap so make the right choices on that end. Your body will burn off a pound every 8 hours of mostly water until you get very dehydrated. With minimal exercise and watching your intake the day before you can quickly dump 6 lbs. I’ve done 12+ in 4 hours for a wrestling weigh in. From my experience a trashbag + sweats and a 3 mile run will pull 4-5 lbs off of you. Come home and don’t drink anything, by the time you wake up you’ll be on weight.

16oz of spit should actually weight more than 1lbs as 16oz(by volume) of distilled water weights 16oz. Spit contains minerals and other fluids besides water so it should be slightly heavier.

Make sure you rehydrate correctly after weigh-in. Not too much you body can only absorb so much water in a given window of time.

LOL. A toe has to weigh about a pound. You could spare one or two of those to be a champ, right?

By the way, I don’t know if the Vit C and Ex-Lax recommendations are good ideas. Did anyone see the video of the BJJ match where the guy shat himself? Pretty funny stuff. Wish I had a link.
