Need a First Dance Song . . .

I am a T Man. So much a T man I have a back that looks like a sweater. Anyhoo, I am getting hitched soon and need a first dance song. I need help, my collection of Ozzy and Van Halen won’t exactly with the wedding. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

“Shameless” by either Billy Joel (the original and writer of that song) or Garth Brooks (for a country rip-off version) would be okay, but it’s not a long song. My wife’s selection was “Grow Old Along With Me” by Mary Chapin Carpenter (I think). If you’re going to have a DJ at the reception (highly recommended for a more stress-free occassion, check with the local wedding professionals association), check with them for some suggestions.

Van Morrison is pretty romantic. What song reminds you of her and your time together? Did you ever have a song stuck in your head after you went out on a date? That would be the one. Ask her, maybe she has one. Whatever it is, it should be personal.

WHEELS OF LIFE by GINO VANELLI

Her favorite love song…and/or one that makes her think of you…(ask her Maid of Honor or best friend to find out for you).

(I personally like “NOW AND FOREVER” by Richard Marx).

Actually “I Was Made for Loving You” by KISS was our song. We don’t take ourselves too seriously. I doubt KISS would go over well at a wedding.

“Thank You” by Led Zep

No no no, Otis Redding is the way to go. “These arms of Mine” or “I’ve Been Loving You” He is the shit!

Sweet Child O’ Mine can NEVER go wrong with Guns N’ Roses

I prefer rock, but you can find what you need on Joe Cocker’s “Unchain my Heart” CD. Can’t get a much rasperier T-voice and a love song rolled into one. Maybe barry White, but Cocker’s got a better beat.
“I Stand in Wonder” …(I stand in wonder of you…) slow enough with a nice quality.
“All our tomorrows” is another off the same album… “trust in me” is pretty good “the one” is another slow romantic one. The ladies may like “You are so beautiful” …(“you’re everything I hoped for…everything I need, you are so beautiful to me”)…off his greatest hits very slow…what the hell…it only gives someone 2:40 minutes to steal your beer while you’re up dancing. I would recommend any of you T-men out there to get a bottle of red wine dim the lights, push the coffee table out of the way and dance with your woman to “you can leave your hat on”… the “g” string will be history soon after.

How do you want it? By Tupac lol

“Open Arms” by Journey. That’s always good for those sentimental mooments. “Earth Angel” by the Penguins is also good. “Unchained Melody” is a classic, but that’s probably been played to much for these occasions. Best of luck with everything–I hope you have a happy life with your woman.

Promise by Jagged Edge if you havent heard it just listen to it. Its perfect for your occasion and it is differrent.

‘Time in a Bottle’ by Jim Croce. It’s a beautiful song and really says a lot.

How about “Break Stuff” by Limp Bizkit. After you play that song you can get people to light the head table on fire.

my brother used “Tupelo Honey” by Van Morrison. that was for his first wedding, though, so maybe it’s not such good luck. personally, i can’t get married until i find a woman who would want to use “Get Off” by the great lavender one, Prince.

Chris B,

“Back that looks like a sweater”?. Doesn’t that make you a DHT-man? But seriously bro…You can’t go wrong with the classics. Opt for a nice waltz. Pretend you’ve got class.

She was asking for it by Cannibal Corpse

How about ‘Babe I gonna leave you’, by Led Zeppelin. or ‘I just wanna’ by Kiss…These are classics. BTW…I don’t recommend marriage…It will hurt your efforts in the gym.

I always thought the standard “Someone to watch over me” was a great song.
