Neck Strength

hey guys i had a question about neck strength. Since i play hockey was curious to see if you guys think anything more than shrugs is needed. I mean just for injury prevention since having a strong neck would lead to less injuries. I already do shrugs and deads so do you guys think anything further would help.

Like for instance i have a neck harness and neck machine at my gym so how much do you think those would help?

Try doing some purely neck movements…check out MILO for a neck harness or some ab hanging straps and do some neck movements.

Neck harness is necessity imo… I also do partner drills almost everyday with someone hanging on my neck and trying to snap my head down.

Get a thick rope/rubber tubing and attach it to some weight plates, bite the rope and do neck curls. Builds your neck and jaw muscles great.

I’d use the neck harness and/or 4-way neck two or three times a week. Keep the reps reasonably high though (10+).

i do like 20-50+ reps :-p the range of motion is super short might as well go higher imo.

it’s really hard to train your neck directly without either manual resistance or a 4-way neck machine

add to what’s been said do neck bridges , aka wrestler’s bridge

work the front of your neck. Place your forehead on a bench, and put your bodyweight on your head and try to support some of your bodyweight on your head. Just be careful though. You can really feel the front of the neck work though! Hold for 20 secs. few sets.
