So, this past thursday I got a headache…I pin pointed the issue to some pain in my neck, I’d call it a moderate soreness.
Well, this continued through the weekend, neck pain with dull headaches…
Now, Monday, I stood up to get away from my desk and get a bottle of water and noticed the pain now goes from under my left shoulder blade all the way up to behind my left ear.
At this point, it’s a little worrying.
Also, should be noted that I can’t lift as much or for as long as I could maybe two months ago, I originally attribute that to soreness.
Have had a similar problem for many years now. Started with headaches 5 days of the week, then a few years ago My neck started acting up. Did not take long before i realized the one was causing the other. Tried doctors, manual therapists, physical therapy, not training, but still have the pain.
The only thing that has worked so far is stretching ; both sides and forwards. Do it several times a day, and several times during my training.
It has not completely cured me of the neck pain, but most days are good. Now i only have the migrenes…
A buddy of mine had that problem. I told him he was being a pussy… turns out he had a golf ball size tumor pressing on his mid brain. Felt kinda bad after that. Your neck is not something you want to be messing with. Have you had pictures taken (MRI)?
Chances are its nothing major, but its always nice to rule out.
i get the same. its from the middle of my back on the left side all the way up to my neck. all on the left side. once a month or so it gets tight and sore and leads to a headache for a few days. however, the last time it was a really bad migraine. so, i’ve been going to get a massage and accupuncture. will see how that goes. my dentist mentioned it might be because i grind my teeth and said i should get a guard for when i sleep, but i’ll be damned if i can afford it.
Appreciate the info and stuff guys.
No pictures (MRI) taken as of yet, I figure if it continues until thursday (that would be one week), I’ll head out to the doctor.
I was talking about it with my dad last night and he believes I might have messed up my ulnar nerve, maybe pulled it or something.
Everyone says no more upper body workouts for a while though…I guess it’ll just be bodyweight squats and cardio! haha…
I get this too. What works for me is soft tissue work with a tennis ball against a wall, targeting the traps, pecs, shoulders. Also static stretching the same region, and also the hip flexors.
