Thanks. I don’t know anything about federations, so I wouldn’t know WHAT to Google, but I did want to enter a competition this summer. Will look into the article.

OP: Also, stay away from any advice recieved from YouTube. Most of the people on there are retarded and weak. I am not the strongest by far, but I sense enough to know what is worth listening to and what isn’t. Just because someone says something that SOUNDS legit, doesn’t make it ture. You’re young and have a LOT to learn.

Pick up some books and read twice as much as you post online. Trust me, it will benefit you way more than anything you can get on YouTube (for the most part). Look up the methods of Louie Simmons (West Side/Conjugate), Jim Wendler (5/3/1), Chad Wesley Smith (Juggernaut), and any one else who is recommended to you by those guys or from some of the better lifters on this site. StormTheBeach knows his shit and I would listen to pretty much anything he has to say.

Learn to filter the shit from the gold and you’ll be on your way to being able to answer a ton of questions like this for yourself. To echo florelius, google everything first before posting it here. You will catch way less shit that way. The more defensive you get, the more the sharks start to circle. It’s like blood in the water. Just take the criticism in stride and pick out what you think can benefit you.
Those are all books? I remember trying to look into the West Side thread on here, it was the most confusing thing I’ve ever read. But OK, thanks a lot for the advice, will do. There is always something to learn, even when you’ve think you learned it all. Yea, I guess I should’ve went straight to the point, more direct.
StrengthDawg wrote:
To Cons credit, he has weathered the criticisms, kept his composure and seems wiling to listen to sound advice.

So having said that I would suggest reading Storms WestSide thread Con and make sure you know the info. STB always is quick to respond to questions, as are others. You train like that and in short order you’ll be blowing away personal records.

A lot of the guys on here offer sound advice too. I’m sure any of them would be glad to share whats worked for them, myself included. Good luck and keep us posted.

The one where he explains it? I tried…I’ve never been so confused in my life. Most of the things he mentioned, I had no idea what they were. I eventually gave up on trying to understand. Seems a lot of people talk about “West side”. I usually do 5/3/1, but I cycled off and I’m doing Coan/Phillepi, but I’m looking for other programs. It’s just the ones people gave me, I couldn’t understand, and when I asked they all told me to “Google it”.

The OP was edited. He stated based on what he was told, he had lost his desire to power lift (paraphrased). He implied he wanted to quit, at least that’s how I read it.
If I wanted to quit, I would’ve just quit. I didn’t imply anything besides what I directly said. But it was off-topic anyways, it should’ve been left out.

You’ve taken everything in stride, so I’m going to help you out:

^^Everything you need to know about PL (meets, feds, records, news, the works)

Very well said.

When a lot of people, that are a lot stronger than you, are all telling you the same thing, you might want to listen. It doesn’t matter because you’re not going to reach that level of potential, no one is. My purpose in saying “who cares” is the same as everyone else’ here. It simply does not matter and thus doesn’t effect your lifting, or anyones for that matter in anyway other than a negative one.

That single question essentially is an excuse, one that weaker people like to make when their own levels of success are not up to par - not saying you’re making an excuse, just saying that question can simply be turned into one for many people. That is also why your intensity in the gym was called into question - because most of us who have been around here a long time and see this question pop up each year from weak people, ultimately spend so much time over-analyzing and coming up with reasons why they are not stronger such as saying they’ve “hit their neural potential” that they never last in this sport.

When we say “it doesn’t matter” we’re telling you not to waste time focusing on something that isn’t going to help you in any way.
That’s kinda like the question “How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop”…

I guess we’ll never know…

So who gives a shit…either use or don’t but just train as hard and as smart as you can and see what happens…

I’ve been there a couple of times, but thanks. I’ll check the records, so I know what I have to work towards.

I agree. Thanks for the clarification. It just seemed like people were attacking me. But I understand. I’m just as harsh, or blunt with other subjects, anyways. No different.

West Side (conjugate) involves a little more thinking than I’d prefer. I love 5/3/1 because of how simple it is and it lays out EXACTLY what you’re going to do each session.

I’m not saying West Side isn’t good, everyone knows it is. Some people just need a different direction than others.

I bet you would enjoyt reading the 5/3/1 Second Edition and the 5/3/1 for Powerlifting. Good info, direct, and to the point. Wendler gives a lot of good examples of taking complications out of your training.

Yes, the complex part of it was trying to understand it, so I stuck to simpler programs. But I keep hearing about it. I looked into it once or twice, and I couldn’t understand it. I even checked out homeboys thread, and I was dumbfounded. I wanted to look into it, since I read somewhere that 5/3/1 is more of an intermediate/beginner program, for those PL for say, 1-3 years.

OK, thank you! I will look into it. Where can I buy it from?

On a side note, FACK Orator. Or whatever his real name is, which I forgot. I think he was just made because he’s fat, and out of shape, and his way of killing my spirit, was by telling me false information, knowing that I trusted and valued his word. I went hard today for chest, and I will surpass his PR’s in due time, FACK him.
