Name Your Gym

i used to go to Excel, a local gym in my old Houston neighborhood, but they were bought by lifetime. i went with the lesser evils (here at least) and switched to 24 hr.

now i’m in college in a town outside ft. worth and go to another local gym, The Fitness Center.

Somebody mentioned the Y earlier. I guess it depends on where you are, but the one in Rincon, GA near my hometown (Springfield, GA) is pretty good and relatively inexpensive.
By the way, points to anyone who has ever heard of the 3 cities I just mentioned.

North End Muscle & Fitness
Oxford, MA

and occasionally the school’s gym, if you could call it that. One room

Leisure centre, BC
shitty name for a gym, but the best one in town, has nice weight room, raquetball/ squash courts, pool, sauna, steam room, full gymnasium, and i think a daycare somewhere too maybe?

Mr. U Gym, Osaka.

Small world, I go to Brock too.

One of the Gold’s in Arlington, VA – generally the one in Ballston. Or in my spare room with the kettlebells.

for those of you who either currently go to albany strength or have gone in the past, how is it? is it mostly people who compete or is there a good mix? i want to start competing or at least trying it out, but im not sure how to get started and if its an open gym to anyone

another one right here.

Shenkman Training Center

Storrs, CT

New York Health and Racquet Club on 23rd street and 6th avenue in NYC. It’s pretty well equipped: Squat rack, power rack, dumbbells up to 135lbs. Not a lot of “large physique” lifters, excluding the staff, but some serious trainees.

usually 24 hour fitness in fremont or my favorite place Diablo Barbell In concord I have not been to Diablo in a while because school has been a pain.

“Fit for Fun”

Yes, I know…

Still bears the dog grooming place a few towns away, “Doggie Style”

Cornell Fitness Centers, Ithaca, NY.

If you took everything in one fitness center and added the glut-ham raise from another, it’d be perfect. Lots of platforms to DL/SQ, 4 power racks to BP/DL/SQ/whatever. Bumper plates.

Mines in an old ymca building but its in the uk, bristol- The powerstation-Real spit n sawdust kinda gym. I love it. When I’m on nightshift though I sometimes sneak into the gym at work (nuffield) but cant really get much done in there cept cardio as the dumbells only go up to 50 lb and theres only 30 kilo per side on the sorry looking unloved smith machine. Its one of those comedy “do everything on a big rubber ball gyms” and the people that run it look like they also run a pie shop.

Lifetime Fitness

Overpriced, big and maintained very poorly. Problem is, all my friends are there.
