NAACP Plays Race Card on Tea Party

I guess I’m fundamentally misunderstanding this “tea party.” They claim that people who are not affiliated with them are actually their leaders?

Are you suggesting that the Tea Party “follow their lead”?

Hardly. I’m just pointing out how wrong the NAACP is, and attempting to illuminate their extreme hypocrisy. How is it that you could possibly come to believe that I would advocate following their lead?

Our civil liberties have been slowly chipped away at for the last 50 or so years and government has grown exponentially. Where was the tea party then? What is different now?

Are you serious? That’s like asking where was Rosa Parks the first 100 times she was forced to sit at the back of the bus.

There comes a point where enough is enough.

Excactly, people will only take so much before they wake up and try to fix things. I do wish it would have happened sooner, but at least it is happening now.

I still wonder if there would be a tea party if McCain was at the helm

I saw this article in the NYTimes this morning. Check it out…

Advocating writing laws to mandate Christian behaviors would be inconsistent. Laws, like you can’t buy beer on Sunday 'till after noon, if at all. Laws regulating and restricting marriage (marriage being a religious institution, the government should only be in the buisness of civil unions) don’t mandate that I be a Christian, they just mandate I submit to Christian dogma.

There are lots of these types of laws on the books. Is the Tea Party categorically against the,?[/quote]

Wow, let’s get this straight, that is a Protestant (or Blue Law) as a Catholic I start drinking around 9:23 every morning.

It just has to be at a point when a country that had historically oppressed colored people had just elected one as a leader and had to be in the form of a movement that has a lot of racist people in it.

Actually the Tea Party movement germinated during Bush’s Presidency…lol.

You have a really good point. Glenn Beck has said many times that he is kind of glad Mccain lost for that very reason. They are both progressives, and both favor big gov, no matter what mccain says. The difference is Mccain would have taken a slower approach just like Bush did.

Obama, on the other hand, is moving really fast. Beck says “If Bush was a train then Obama is a jet” I think it is the speed, not his color, obama is going is waht woke many people up. I personally did not like Bush the last 4 years. I did vote for him the first time, and would have the second, but luckily my son was born on voting day and I did not go.

Think of it this way…A lot of times bills are passed with goofy add-ons, that dont make sense. But the bill gets passed anyway, so the bullshit is put in place. On the other hand often times bills are combined to where the logical side wont be implemented because the other part of the bill is just ridiculous.

(one example is when the were going to legalize up to 3oz of pot in Reno but it didnt pass cause it was paired up with another bill that didnt make sense so not enough people voted for it).

How does this relate to Obama?

Ok, well he is paired up with a lot of bull-shit. He was/is USED by the Democrats as a shield, so they are able to pass FUCKED UP SHIT like the healthcare bill. So when you start bitching about the STUPID shit he passes, you’re called a racist. Its like people voted for Obama cause he was so appealing/etc. but on the other side of the coin, the one that really matters is all bullshit.

All the idiots that support obama are swept up in his appeal, not realizing the other side of the coin, the democrats know this, and that is why he’s been able to pass so much bullshit, which results in the rest of the people (non-supporters) gettting fucking pissed. The people who are mad right now are focusing on the ACTIONS and BILLS PASSED. All the idiots that are still stuck with obamas dick in their mouth are focusiong SOLELY ON RACE.

Race plays a role here, but it is in Obamas favor…So many white poeple voted for him cause he is black and they thought they could redeem themselves of the guilt that is layed upon them naturally by American society, cause lets face it, every white person in America is a racist.

Supporters of Obama -----> Racist

Opponents of Obama -----> focus on actions/bills, not racist

Yes. Partially. People are projecting some pretty crazy fears. I think that comes partially from racial discomfort.

You know whats a really fucking stupid argument…“Its not ignorant because they did the same thing to bush.”

No both were ignorant. Only one was related to race though.

People are so touchy about being racist. People react to it like they’re being called child molestors. Guess what? Im racist, you’re racist we’re all racist. Own up to it.

Until then Obama had no choice but to institute bail outs and stimulus spending. Political suicide not to.

Health care has been a democratic platform plank since Lyndon Johnson. Fuck off.

All this wire tap shit i’m not thrilled about but its bush stuff. Where was the tea party then? I think thats a valid question.

Until someone can answer that question for me I think the tea party is 5% libertarians/‘true conservatives’ 90% Pissed off republicans who supported bush and 5% lunatics.

100% of those people are racist because 100% of people are racist.

Oh now I get it…People who agree with you are rational and everyone who disagrees is irrational. It all makes sense now. Fucking idiot.

I voted for Obama because I believed him to be eminently qualified. End of story. Didn’t just find a black guy and throw him up there to assuage my white guilt.

Really gotta question the judgement of a man who puts Palin on his ticket when he was running neck and neck. Brief interest and then swept away back to Arizona. I guess he was scared of the Unbeleivably impressive campaign Barry ran. The campaign that convinced the electorate that he was the better option.

As for the wire tapping Obama had a chance to let it expire, but he kept it. It also came at a time when every one was scared that America would be hit again. Remember 9/11. So many people went along with it in the name of security. I did not. Health care may have been part of a platform, but obama made alot of promises to alot of people for thire votes, and over half of the country was oposed to it.

As for your assumption that all tea party members are racist you could not be more wrong. I am a member I am not racist and niether are any others in my particular group. The fact that you say 100% of people are racist is just crazy. I guess all the mixed couples secretly hate each other, but get married anyway.

What made him qualified. His small stint as a senator in which most of his votes were present. Or was it the fact he can read a teleprompter better than anyone. Enjoy your socialism. As for Palin what was wrong with her. Obama was threatened so she was attacked from every angle, and Mccain being passive would not let her talk. I believe if he would have shut up and let her talk mccain would be sound asleep at 1600 penn ave.

  1. I see your point about 9/11.

  2. No, there are varying levels of racism that can be overcome in individual cases by establishing relationships.

I bet you are a nice guy, would never burn any crosses but…
I bet you think twice when you walk past a man in a dark alley. I bet you think three times when its a black guy. I sure do. I’m a racist, you’re a racist.

I can point you to many psychological studies that indicate at least low levels of racial ‘preference’ in just about everyone tested.

One of particular interest showed increased levels of suspicion/lack of empathy/understanding of people with different facial features to the persons own race ESPECIALLY when those participants live in relatively homogenous communities. I find this interesting because the tea partiers I meet are a handful of urbanites, and a great deal more of people in the segregated, isolated suburbs and exurbs.

but at the same time racism does not mean hate but I think it can strongly influence politics.

And finally i think the NAACP comment is pointless and counterproductive. Sometimes you cant control who shows up to your party with that lunatic fringe. NAACP are a bunch of racists that get suspicous/nervous when mobs of angry white people form. Racism cuts both ways.

Did you jerk it to the 1/2 hour commercial that he aired?

So then, what has been your 3 favorite things that Obama ha accomplished for America since being president? He’s won a nobel peace proze, and was recently named the 14th best president of all time (ahead of regean) so we know its not too early to start evaluating all that hes done.
