My V-Diet Progress

Day 8

This is not easy, at least for me. But I like the results so far and want to take this to the end.

I hear you. I keep telling myself it’s only 28 days and if I can’t get through 28 days I don’t deserve to achieve my physique goals.

Mmmm sushi. Hadn’t thought of that… nice. I’m going to the best steak restaurant in my part of the world. Fillet with sweet potato and broccoli. Tomorrow night. I’ve literally been dreaming about it.

I would imagine it gets easier. Hang in there. I’m on day 6. 26 shakes down, 114 to go. Easy peasy… or at least that’s what I keep telling myself…

Are you seeing any difference in the mirror? What is your current bodyfat % and where do you want to get to?

Day 10:

Today I woke up and I have a foggy feeling. It’s like my brain is a step and a half off. I can tell because I am having a bout with typos and concentration.

Not sure if it is a caloric deficit or maybe just another Avelox side effect. Dizzyness and lightheadedness can occur, but it just started today.

I’m within my caloric range, but I have been pushing myself hard at the gym.

I’ll try spacing the shakes a little closer together and see if that helps at all.

Before I started the v-diet I was doing Waterbury’s “Big Boy Basics” program for about 4 weeks and as of this morning I have been able to remove a total of 2 notches from my belt.

Personally, I do not see the changes and the electro-bodyfat-thingy isn’t showing me a signifigant change. I do know that all of my lifts have steadily increased and I feel better and stronger.

I think I am just too hung up on the bodyfat number while it’s obvious I am making the right gains and the right losses. I’ll weigh in again tonight to see how the week 2 progress is coming along.

Weighed in last night at the gym and it looks like my first week water gains are over.

I was down about 3/4 of a pound since my last weight check. Not quite what I expected, but a loss is a loss.

On Monday I will do another bodyfat check to see if that has budged at all so far.

Day 10, and it is getting easier. I am now finding I have to make sure I get my shakes in. I’m not getting the hunger pangs like I used to. I’m forcing myself to take my shakes.

Yes, seeing a difference in the mirror. I see the biggest difference in my stomach, which is what I was looking for. It’s getting smaller and starting to see more definition. Plus I notice it in how my pants fit, quite a bit actually.

I’m down 8 lbs so far which puts me at 181. 2lbs this past week. My body fat was probably 12-14%, I would like to get down to less than 10% and be around 175.

I have pics from day 3 and day 9. I’m looking forward to day 28.

Ok, not quite sure if gravity was a bit off last night or I just can’t count, but I decided to try the scale again tonight. This time it had me at just a tad under 196 (12lbs to goal), so that seems a bit more like it.

I had the absolute best workout ever. And friend and I decided to work out together tonight so she was able to push me harder than I usually do. The result was 4 sets of bodyweight dips (I was happy when I used 40lbs on the assist) and bench dips with 2 45lb plates. I didn’t realize how much I was holding myself back.

But, my ultimate high tonight (and now I know the endorphin rush) was when I was able to get on the leg press and do 540x8, 630x6, and a final 700x2 on it. I was convinced I was a weakling but I was able to pump out every rep cleanly. Of course the last 2 were a major ass kicker, but I was so shocked I was able to get it. Had I tried it myself I would have stuck with probably 360 and called it a really good day.

My lesson of the day: get a partner. Not someone to grabass around with, but someone who will push as well as give you the moral support you might need.

I am sure tomorrow I will feel like I got hit by a truck, but right now I can’t wait until my next workout.

When I can actually eat the gym will be a second home.

Today was a great damn day.

10/16

Had a really off weekend. I was really thrown off by a jaunt down to Charlotte on Saturday evening.

I woke up late and had to run a few errands. Grabbed a shake for the way, but I only had 2 others before we left for Charlotte. Got back in at 6am and only grabbed about 4 hours of sleep. Had my solid meal on Sunday (steamed snow crab and some blanced asparagus).

The end result of my off weekend was a neutral couple of days. The scale didn’t move at all on Monday, but that may be good. The high sodium content of the shellfish may have caused a slight bit of water retention. Not sure though.

Worked out last night and everything was off. After my totally kick ass workout on Friday I was ready to hit it hard again, but it just seems I hit the wall.

I’m going to chalk up last night to an off day. Going back tonight with my workout partner, so hopefully she can push me a bit more than I was able to last night.

I am still on target to hit my goal of 20lbs. I am craving protein like mad and would love to have some form of furry animal right now.

I’ll check my bodyfat tonight. If it hasn’t moved since last time then I think I will scream. I know I have trimmed down because I am starting to get more compliments on looking leaner, but it’s still me versus that damn machine.

So, my takeaway from this weekend: don’t plan anything too radical over your 4 weeks of v-dieting. One off day can really set you back or make you feel like you are stagnating.

Still, 12lbs and counting. Some of those are from the spare tire, so even better.

Last night I had another encounter with my old nemesis - Mr. Elector-body-fat-thingy.

According to the machine of shame I am down 2%BF from my last reading. Not bad at all for about a week.

My weight is hovering a bit. I came in at 195 1/2 before the workout, so the weight is moving slowly but it is still moving.

Hit another PR last night on leg presses: 810lbs. Really busted my ass in the gym last night and ended up feeling like I was about to pass out. Due to a hectic day and a doctor’s appointment I was only able to do 2 shakes before my workout and my Surge during the workout. I had to break down and do a meal after the gym. I hit Whole Foods for a bit of the salad bar, so it was some beans, tofu (they didn’t have grilled chicken), some broccoli, and a little artichoke heart. Ok, I get a ding for breaking the diet. Hopefully this will not totally blow me out when I go back on Thursday.

I got my latest Biotest order in last night, so today I switched over to HOT-ROX Extreme. That might make a little bit of a difference, so we shall see.

Current Stats:

Weight: 195.5lbs (208) -12.5lbs
Bodyfat: 24.1% (26.1) -2% (from my highest reading on the v-diet)
Height: 5’8" (5’8") - no change (well, I can wish)
