My Training Scares the Customers?

Assuming this is not another troll job was it a random personal trainer or was it gym management giving you a hard time?

If it was a PT ignore her. If it was gym management get a refund.
It was a PT.

Post a video of your squat and DL form if it’s so perfect. Lets rule out operator error before condemning the gym. I remember when I was a punk ass teenager I was much less receptive to advice then I should have been, and I sure as hell wasn’t the only teenager to ever “know it all” at that age.
I’ll show you this coming Saturday, since Friday is my Squat Day.

Keep training, screw what other ppl say. YOu paid for your membership, you workout the way you want!!!

Good luck finding a real gym now a days. No more rusty bars and broken A/C units.
When i lived in Illinois i worked at this great little YMCA, it was kind of known as the older, broken down Y, but it was great for me. We had nicer machines and cardio stuff in one side of the building, and then there was this room full of old weights, Dbells that went to 140, and an AC that i had the key to, so that meant when i was there, that thing was turned off.

There were no windows, and a sound system that i managed to change from a 2 speaker to a 12 speaker, and i had the run of the what music got played.

The best part that was that i could lift after i closed the place down, crank the music up as lous as i wanted, and just tear that place apart. I could also come in on Sundays, even though we were closed, it was perfect. Those will probably be some of the best workouts i ever have.

Update: I quit the Gold’s Gym and went to this martial arts studio that also doubles as a regular gym. It’s perfect because management is actually a group of powerlifters and martial artists that love more lifters to join. It’s a lot cheaper than Gold’s too which is an added bonus. A happy ending to my ordeal.

I had the owner of the gym I work and train at, come up to me one day and tell me I had people complaining about my training.

I was doing a TBT workout. DL, Bench, Squat, Power Clean, Military, Dips and BB Rows in a circuit.

Two older ladies complained about me and my brother. Said we were making noise, weights were hitting the floor, and we were cussing and being rowdy. When we train we barely speak, I do grunt on maximal effort lifts, and we were making an effort to not hit the floor too hard. The owner dismissed it, but even so I still had to hear about it.

Some people just love to complain. You training the way you were makes that trainer look bad to her clients. Just keep training. Come around me and my clients, you will definitely see some differences in how the training is conducted.

Alright, I started serious lifting last September. I began at 128 lbs, and now I’m at 150 lbs, and still continue to bulk. My bench is 165, deadlift is 225, and squat is 255. Not bad, but nothing to write home about.

However, today I was told that I can’t do my regular strength training program at this Gold’s Gym that I go to because I scare the customers/make them stare at me. WTF I was so pissed and still am. It’s not like I’m some weight lifting freak. But c’mon.
Define irony… I train at gold’s gym over here in Cali. I get the same stare not because I yell or slam weights on the ground when I lift because I Don’t .

Its because I do what most people and trainers at the gym won’t do i.e. cleans, squats, deadlift, farmers walk, pull ups etc…nobody have told me to stop since i’m not violating any policy…As a matter of fact I started to notice a trend with people starting to do squats/deadlift. For instance last week all 4 squat racks was occupied with people actually doing squats instead of curls.

Both. Apparently ever since I started the Advanced Ian King Upper/Lower program, the progressive use of heavier weights I guessed has made a few of the old ladies working on the leg extension machines a bit uncomfortable. Haha.

The PT told me to cut back on down these exercises becase I can’t for the sake of her clients being scared I guess? That’s more or less what she said. I guess doing 10 lb lateral raises on half swiss ball, while have some kid wave load his squats is a bit…weird?

wait wait wait: advanced Ian King program? What was the saying… train like a pro IF you are a pro? How about westside for skinny bastards? Lets work on the program first maybe that’s what the pt was trying to say.

Powerhouse in WOburn would be your best bet or Gold’s in Evertt are the most hardcore for franchise gyms on the north shore

Kind of like 90% of contributions to this thread…not that I disagree, but the bitching is on our tongues, as well. Regarding the uninitiated taking issue with loud, ostentatious behavior – all that they perceive is (seemingly) unnecessary, intrusive behavior. If someone is distracting you with something they don’t need to do, of course you won’t like it. I get plenty pissed when I go to a “No talk zone” in my library to fight through Paradise Lost or some assignment equally easy to lose focus on and a few people storm the room and start talking about how “the fish was undercooked” or "Sam had a lot of balls to post that on his Myspace diary…same, diff. And yes, I realize those last example was me bitching about something annoying in my life…fuck…I got some readin’ to do.

A gym isn’t and shouldn’t be anything like a library. If it is, change gyms. I have seen people trying to read books in the gym lately during “overly long and drawn out rest periods” before they try to lift weights so light that the cable is more stress than the actual 1 plate that have pinned to it. Apparently, they also want to turn all gyms into libraries.

It is up to us to fight the cause. I personally think if enough of us start farting uncontrollably next to these people, it leaves them with little to complain about but every reason to leave.

I’m doing the beginner training age option for the Ian King Workout. And customized it for my training age. So I’m training like a beginner pro?

I do “drive-by’s” all the time in the gym.

So it’s YOU is it?

Within reason. I hate it when people abuse the equipment, slap weights around without regards for others fingers and toes, drop things from shoulder height straight to the ground etc.

I’ve seen it all and all it does it shorten the equipment’s lifespan. Apes who train like this deserve to get the flick in my opinion.

But this would be less than 1/20 users. Most people are pretty good.

And then I saw this on fantasyfeeder.com

So… you didn’t happen to have a bulk get a little out of control, did you?

I’m glad for you man. I’m just sad that it happened in a GOLD’S GYM. Joe Gold is probably rolling in his grave right now.
