My Starting Strength Plan

I am a 15 year old basketball player. My goals are to get a lot stronger, and gain some lean body fat while doing just that. On monday I will start “Starting Strength.”

My stats:
Squat 175X3
Deadlift 200X5
Bench 155X5

As you can see I am pretty weak. I am going to start taking “Gold standard 100% whey”. My training will look like this:

Workout A:
Squat 5X3
Bench 5X3
Clean or Row 5X3
Pullups 5X3

Workout B:
Squat 5X3
Press 5X3
Deadlift 5X2

I will train 3 days a week MWF and take one scoop of protein 30-40 min after I train.

What are your thoughts/opinions/questions. What kind of progress do you think I will make? Thank you in advance for any support.

You are not weak for a 15 year old. Don’t compare yourself to people who have been doing this for years. You should make good progress but don’t assume that a little whey will make a huge difference. It will help and so will the program. Make sure your diet is in order and you get adequate rest between workouts. Work on your skills, stay active outside the gym and get lots of sleep. Work on minimizing stress outside the gym by taking care of other responsibilities (homework, chores) before they reach crisis conditions and maintaining healthy relationships.

Read the stickies on proper post-workout nutrition. You should also have a scoop of protein before bed in a glass of milk it can help build muscle through the night.
