My New Life in Colorado...

off-topic ,just a question, if it does not bother you, I do not manage to have the domed on the top of deltoid like you (avatar) what is the best way to work this lack?

@SWAT06: Lots of lateral raises!!! Id consider doing them one arm at a time, at a 45 degree angle, while hanging with the other hand. Bring the dumbell higher then plane level and go slowly on the way down.

I’m actually following the LiveSpill you are "MC"ing from the Detroit show right now

Really i just wanted to say how impressed and inspired by you I am. I saw you on the live spill for the first time in a video when the Daryl Project first started and instantly noticed how big your shoulders are. Honestly when I first saw you, it must have been an intence session because you looked dead serious and, since it was the first time I’ve seen you I made the snap decision “He looks look kind of an ass.” Because I see a guy at my gym all the time that is big and a total ass so I kind of associate the two. But after reading about you in the LiveSpils, and this entire Thread, you actually seem like a real genuine guy. You don’t think that you are the center of a universe and that you are above all others.

So yeah, I just wanted to say thanks for that and ask if you were going to be the next focus of the LiveSpill and what and when is your next show?

Just wanted to give a major shout-out to some Eastern Canadian Boys. I am from New Brunswick, where I grew up in a French town very close to Quebec. I love that this thread is filled with Frenchies

I am going to be following very closely around this thread.

Hey Alex man, just wanted to let you know that you are definately one of my idols, your work ethic and happy nature, man I love it!

I think its your turn now man, should get the team together and earn yourself a pro card!

All the best man, I love following this thread!

@samson141: Hahahahaha!!! Self centered, shallow, full of himself, showoff…I’ve heard it all man!!! I thank you for your comments, and for being humble enough to admit you may have judged me a bit too quickly! I pride myself for not being that typical big bodybuilder dude, aggressive, trows the weights around, disrespects guys smaller then him, only speaks of himself…

I guess it’s because I am first and foremost a nerdy kid, who took bodybuilding to manage his eating disorder, and then discovered that he had facility growing muscle mass and loved it too, and I also remember my first years of lifting, looking at big guys in the gym, the way they handle themselves, the way they treated me and others beginners, and I thought to myself that I would never be looked upon as an ass, as long as people get to know me a bit of course!!!

As for me being the focus of the Live Spill, well, I just recently competed at the Canadian Nationals, as documented on the Live Spill, so I guess I’ll have to wait until I feel I’ve improved enough to challenge for top spot and overall tittle…will that be next year, in two years, never, who knows, all I know is that Im not in a hurry, I want to do things right. And you know what, I don’t mine at all giving the spotlight to others, I know Im part of a team that works in harmony, heck, of a nation, of the T-Nation, which in my mind, is far more important than being the center of attention in the Live Spill!!! But don’t worry, my time will come again, and this time will be the right one guys!!!

@ Benjuito: French, English, Canadian, American…I consider myself a bit of all of those!!! Im a proud Canadian, je suis fier de ma langue maternelle (Im proud of my native language), Im proud to be bilingual, and Im proud to live now in the USA, which has welcomed me with open arms!!! But also, I thank you for supporting this thread, Im greatfull for each and every one of you following me guys!!!

@maynzie: Wow…Im blushing here, your idol??? I never had such a compliment before…thank you!!! I try my best to enjoy life as much as I can, to disregard the bumps and bruises I encounter on the way, to learn from my mistakes instead of letting my errors bring me down. My life was good before, but is now even better with this nice opportunity that I got to work with an awesome team, doing what I do best and what I love doing, not many people can honestly say their job is their passion…Im part of the lucky ones!!!

As for me getting my pro card, Its my short, medium and long term goal, Im not in a hurry and I want to make things right. Next time I’ll step onstage, the judges will look at each other, saying that they need to determine who’s 2nd and 3rd, because number one is too obvious!!! Im only 31 years old, and Im just beginning my full time training regimen with Biotest, so I don’t know what to expect gain wise in a year or two… And believe me, I don’t need to compete to feel that the team is already behind me… I recently tore my bicep tendon, in a mater of minutes, Tim Patterson himself was on the phone, calling doctors and everything. Two hours later, I was in the MRI machine…4 hours later, the Denver Broncos trainer was looking at my bicep!!! That’s a real team, when one of us is down, everybody mobilize and help the best they can!

Haha, thanks for translating for everyone else. The only times I have spoken French since leaving there was a semester in Europe. I also live in the USA now, in sunny Northern California. Even though it is nothing like Eastern Canada, I have never had so many opportunities given to as I have since arriving here 2 years ago.

Whereabout are you guys in Colorado? I love it there, I spent last Christmas in Vail.

alex thank you for your advice. it’s true that I finally speak French with a competitor like you, pity distance interposed
merci alex pour ton conseil . c’est vrai que j’aimerais enfin parler français avec un competiteur comme toi , dommage que la distance s’interpose

maynzie resume my thought too.
I think this experience will put the light on you and daryl.
and for us it will allow us to have more news from you, maybe the videos on youtube and others, articles in magazines, forums etc …

ultimately work, kindness and respect gives results, although this is not your original leitmotiv.

but it can be an excellent motor of performance for you.

Thanks for all the updates Alex, you’ve made this a very interesting show to follow. If you can manage to inspire a bunch of people on the internet that you’ve never met, I can only imagine how much you helped Daryl leading up to this show.

Awesome news, great updates, and a hell of a payoff for all the work that the entire team poured in.

I think the connection that you allowed between the team and T-Nation is invaluable. Not only can we see the amount of preparation, dedication, and effort that goes into every facet of the process, but I think it serves to strengthen this community, the business, and the support of both the athletes and the products that Biotest produces.

Bravo.

@Benjuito: We’re in Colorado Springs, in the Broadmoor neighborhood. Yes, clearly more opportunities in the USA, as far as bodybuilding goes!

@SWAT06: Yes indeed, the success of one of us reflects on everyone else in the team!!! As for the “new” attention created by this experience, this is merely the beginning… If we were able to add slabs of new muscles on a small frame like Darryl’s, who is 35 years old and also a seasoned bodybuilder, meaning his potential is already used close to his max, just imagine what we could do for someone that haven’t use his full potential yet!!! The possibilities are endless!!!

And don’t worry, you’ll be able to follow me and my progress here, either on the Live Spill, or on m blog “my new life in Colorado”. But for now, it’s Darryl’s time to shine, we’re just starting to open people’s eyes with our new exercises and our new training techniques!!!

@Duro: As for the info and updates, I just told you guys what I thought, as a listener or reader, I would be interested to know!!! And during all my time in Detrot, all I did was thinking about how I would feel in Darryl’s place, what would make me feel better and more confident and what a real partner should be!!!

@WestCoast7: Thanks man!!! Creating a bond and a feeling that you guys belong is my main focus, making you feel like you were there in person…because at the end of the day, if you guys aren’t there, me and the crew just doesn’t exist and we serve no purpose!!! Your the backbone of T-Nation, the bulk of his fondation!!!

Hi Alex, big support from QC! Just to tell you did a very good job on the livespill. It was exciting to follow it right up to the contest. Big up to Darryl’s too as he stand before other big names on stage and that everyone notice his conditioning were far ahead others. Can’t wait for the Olympia Livespill!

Hey Alex, quick question about your training. Do you use heavy weight for as many reps for 45 degree hanging side lateral raises? Or would you recommend using light weight for high reps with controlled eccentric? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks and good luck with Daryl at Olympia!

-Paul

@Stephane Aube: Merci mon chum, tres apprecie!!! (thanks buddy, much appreciated!!!)
