My New Life in Colorado...

@all: Ok, so it’s currently 3h45pm in Detroit, and I just came back from Darryl’s room. We both slept like babies last night, heck, I even had to wake Darryl up at 1h30pm, otherwise he might be still asleep!! lol!

He’s clearly dryer then last night, the water in his legs is starting to shed, and his upper body is crisper, and that is, with only one meal downed.
I can now see deep cuts in his upper and lower back and his traps, which are already striated. His mid-section, normally not one of his strong points, now comes out even when he’s relaxed, and he has veins popping on his abs!!!

As for his mood, well you can’t expect a guy who’s 2 days out to be full of energy, but he looks more relaxed than yesterday, the adrenalin rush of the flight has wear off, and today is the one “off day” he has…tomorrow is the weigh-in and the athletes meeting, then saturday the show. Basically, now its time for him to slowly but surely fill up his body, while keeping his energy. Since he’s already pretty close to contest shape, coach Thibaudeau has him adding carbs steadily, preventing any over spill, adjusting more frequently as we go…

As for me, it’s an “off day” too…went for some grocery for me and Darryl, trained at the MGM gym (which wasn’t that bad!!!), went for a quick dip in the pool, and tonight Im laying in my bed, watching tv and relaxing, since I know I’ll be up all night from friday to saturday, looking and gaging Darryl’s condition as the hours pass by, just to make sure he comes in the shape of his life!!!

I’ll post again tonight, after my second visit to Darryl’s room…hopefully by then, he’ll be even dryer!!! Stay tuned guys, the best is yet to come!!!

@all: Wow…people stupidity will always amaze me!!! I just came back from the store (wont say which one, but it rimes with hallmark…), and the guy who places cans and stuff on the shelves looks at me (Im wearing a Biotest extra large t-shirt, a baseball cap and nylon pants…) and ask me 2 questions, back to back; “how much do you bench press?” and “what are you taking?”

What to answer to that??? First, Im not a powerlifter, Im a bodybuilder, so I don’t have a damn clue how much can I bench press for one rep, its been years since I’ve done such a thing, especially with my slight pec tear.

Has for what am I taking, like he wants to know what magic pill to take…euh, Im mostly on chicken, egg whites, oats and potatoes man, Im also on a regimen that requires me to train 2-3 times a day, using grueling training methods, Im also into sleeping at least 8 full hours a night, Im into not drinking booze, not taking drugs, not partying all the time, Im into eating 1-2 cheat meals out of 49 meals total during a week, Im into pushing myself so damn hard that my bicep almost tore apart completly, Im into taking good proven products, like Anaconda, MAG-10, Alpha GPC, Mineral Support, Superfood, Flameout, EFA, Curcumin every day, Im so damn disciplined that if coach Thibaudeau would ask me to eat a jar of hot peppers a day, hell I would do it…since I didn’t have much time or energy to spare and explain the hole thing to the poor guy, I only said that I don’t train at all…you should’ve seen the look on his face, priceless!!! hahahahaha!!!

^^that’s awesome

When he asked you what you were taking, you shouldve said “Arsenic”

@all: Ok h=guys, just came back from Darryl’s room, it’s currently 10h35pm, he just finished eating his 4th meals out of 6 total for the day, and I just finished applying a first coat of Pro Tan (I think we’ll have to put at least 4 or 5 total…)

This morning, he looked good, much dryer…now, he has even deeper cuts, of course, his separations in his legs goes much higher, almost to the hip flexor, but the color, oh my godddddd, what a difference!!! You see, Darryl, being from asian decent, has a much lighter skin tone then an average caucasian, and even with tanning session, he wasn’t able to really become “brown”. Now, even though we only applied one coat, you notice veins, muscle bellies, cuts that you couldn’t see before. Some of them weren’t there at all, while others weren’t noticeable because he was too white… His mood is fairly good, but you can see the diet is doing is damage on his body…energy wise!

Since I don’t wan’t to play catch-up tomorrow, I"ll return later on to apply a 2nd coat, then tomorrow morning a 3rd, and a 4th later at night then finally, if needed, a 5th coat saturday morning.

As for his diet, it went like this since wednesday:

Wednesday:
-1\2 cup white rice and chicken (8oz)
-1 cup white rice and chicken (8oz)
-1 cup white rice and chicken (8oz)
-1 Finibar (airport)
-1 Fnibar (during flight)
-1 cup white rice and chicken (8oz)

Thursday:
-1 cup white rice, 1 Finibar and chicken (8oz)
-1 yam, 1 Finibar and chicken (8oz)
-1 yam and chicken (8oz)
-1 yam and chicken (8oz)
-1 yam and chicken (8oz)
-1 yam and chicken (8oz)

Friday:
-1 yam and chicken (8oz)
-1 yam and 4 rice cakes
-1 yam and 4 rice cakes
-1 yam and 4 rice cakes
-1 yam and 4 rice cakes
-4 rice cakes with jelly
-4 rice cakes with jelly

Saturday:
-we’ll adjust in the morning depending on his conditioning

@all: Just finished putting a 2nd coat of Pro Tan on Darryl…it’s 1h15am and Im exhausted!!! Again, the darker he gets, the better he looks, his legs, hams and glutes are a lot better, heck, for the first time ever, Darryl might see a bit of striation in his glutes!!! As for his mood, well, he was a bit cranky, since all the hotel tv set keep bugging, because of a satellite problem, and since he stayed all day in his room, it was kind of boring…then again, it was the perfect day to rest his body!!!

Im heading to bed, another big day tomorrow!!! Weigh-in at 6pm, athletes meeting at 7pm, 2-3 more coats of Pro Tan, I want to go train again, I need to go to the grocery store but don’t worry, I’ll find time to let you in on the latest developments!!!

See you tomorrow guys…

hell yeah man… Do it up big out there. When I was still in the military and in SF we used to have a saying…

“Breakin necks and cashin checks”

Get some!!! Good luck

That’s really awesome of you Alex to keep us updated during Darryl’s journey through these two contests. Thanks

Love the updates, can’t wait for the contest, and am really looking forward to the pictures.

Best of luck to all of you.

@all: Thanks guys…from now on, the updates on Darryl’s experience in Detroit will be on the LiveSpill, so stay tuned!!!

How is that mile high air treating you Alex? Can you describe the Biotest facility? Are all the Athletes bodybuilders?

@alphaSC: Well at first, I didn’t notice the air all that much…until I did some sled work!!! Ouffff, let me tell you, it was rough, and that was precontest, when I was around 223lbs. Now that I am 250lbs and rising, I feel the air, or lack there of, even more!!! But Im getting use to it slowly, I’ve been to Colorado only a couple weeks now, but I expect to stay here year round, so after a couple months, Im sure I’ll manage just fine, and when I’ll go back home, heck I’ll be a real machine!!! lol!

Our facilities are one of a kind…from outside, it looks like your typical warehouse, but inside, that’s when things gets interesting!!! We have machines, all of them very efficient, like the pullover machine which is one of a kind, we have two power racks, dumbells heavy enough, normal weights, olympic weights, normal olympic bars, fat bars. But also, we have some rubber bands that we use, some blast straps and of course, the sled.

The sled is basically a device on skates that you can put some weight on, that we’re using, either to pull, push, curl, do some extensions, basically, we use it to work every body parts and by the same time, some cardio work. Also, another big difference isn’t what we have there, but what we don’t… We don’t have people lying around chatting and doing social work, since its private, so we never wait for a machine to be free, we don’t get dirty looks and we don’t get hit on by people!!! hahahaha!

Me and my follow canadian boy Kevin have a big sport background, just like coach Thibaudeau, so yes, we’re bodybuilding first, but overall, we, well, at least I, like to think that we’re complete athletes!!!

@alphaSC: Because it’s very nice to be big, but big AND functional is even better!!!

I have been following these threads with great interest. Good luck tommorrow, and hey maybe I will see you guys down in LasVegas, as I will be there. I have been trying a lot of those workouts in my home, for the past month and have to give both thumbs up. I have already made noticable gains, that I know… I’m in Van tommorrow and a buddy out there I know is a Olympic lifting instructor, so I will be learning how do some of that, and when I get back in town I am buying a prowler sled lol.

P.s. when a guy asked you what you are taking… just turn it around on him and say ‘what are you taking?’

they’ll be like huh? if they’re a real ass then asked them if they are on crack? … someone stupid enough to ask you if you workout, how much you bench and then ask you what you are on… deserves a quick insulting comeback.

@Prisoner: Hope to see you too in Vegas bud! As for the fast reply and insulting come back, I’ve been known for having a sharp tongue myself!!! But, over time, I’ve come to realize that going after them, verbally or else, is accepting to get down at their level of stupidity, and since I have no time to spare, I rather laugh about it and go on with my life, always looking in front, not behind me. That way, when a nice opportunity comes along, you see it coming and are able to seize it!!!

You are right, it always depends on the context… I have alot of friendly guys that come up and ask those questions, and they mean well. I pretty good natured about it then… I actually got this comback from somebody at the CDN nationals lol in super’s thought it was pretty funny.

in France, on the forums, daryl is often placed in 3rd position.

daryl surprised everyone with his muscle gain and muscle quality

arf! fast results!

@SWAT06: Well, after seeing couple videos of his competitors on other sites, I can honestly say, being objective, that he has a real good chance to crack top 3, even challenge for top spot! The guy has no flaws…he’s thick, he has 21 inch guns, good back thickness, good chest and shoulders, big legs, symetry, esthetic look. Before, his only weaknesses were his back width and leg separation. Now, after focussing on his back, hitting it from every angle and with many training techniques, a.k.a neural charge exercise, volume work, eccentric less exercise (sled), he’s back width is now up to par with his thickness. Has for his leg separation, pushing and pulling the sled almost every day, sometimes 2-3 times a day, made a big difference, because he now has separation and striation in his glutes, something he never had before!!!

enormous progress that’s clear

daryl and we’re lucky to have you, maybe not for the same reasons, but your motivation for him as a friend and as a link and an example for us in this adventure deserves thanks, especially the busy schedule of yours.

Sorry for the translation, I tried to be as understandable.

@ SWAT06: Well thank you bud, much appreciated!!! When you not only train, but live with someone 24\7, it’s only normal that there’s some sort of a “bond” created. I truly consider Darryl as a friend, a fellow bodybuilder and I respect and understand everything he went thru to get here and what he’s going thru right now!

Also, I respect my sport, the people like who who follow us in our journey, and it’s only normal that every chance I get, Im trying to give back to the sport of bodybuilding and to you guys, since you both have given me so much thus far!!!

Yes, I sometimes have a busy schedule, but look, not many people can say that their work is their passion, Im part of the lucky ones, and I’ll never forget where Im coming from, Im blessed and so greatfull towards Biotest and all it’s members for giving me the chance to live my dream!!!

As for your translation, tu tu debrouilles tres bien mon ami!!! (french for: you’re doing a very good job man!!!)
