I generally take people as I find them. Obviously a lot depends on what they’d done, how long ago, and how they felt about it now. Anything involving cruelty wouldn’t sit well with me, but I’m generally open-minded. Most of us have broken the law to some degree at one time or another, whether it’s speeding, experimenting with a drug or nicking sweets from the corner shop as a kid.
ok, so i didn’t put on my thinking cap before my fingers hit the keyboard, it was a quick rant, so i will elaborate since you asked.
the pieces of shit i’m referring to are convicts who have committed murder, sex crimes and other heinous acts on a fellow innocent human being. i do not lump all convicts into one category, as my initial post may have indicated. those kinds of acts, IMO, are indicative of a human condition i’m not about to try and figure out and are not traits that need to be taught NOT to do.
growing up in a huge meth manufacturing county, i am all too familiar with the effects of such activity and the fall out on not just families of those immediately surrounding those activities, but communities as a whole. lack of jobs, lack of what i will call a ‘normal’ social structure, lack of family structure, all these things can impact a person’s ability to make the right choices and often open the doors to a lifestyle that will be a constant struggle should they chose to live that way.
i too know of some former convicts who have straightened their lives out, i know it’s possible. i’m glad to hear your friend cleaned up. not a day goes by that i don’t try to envision my sisterS (another involved in that lifestyle too) living a normal life.
in regards to my one sister, neither her x-husband or her current ‘man’ are changing their ways. at least the current one doesn’t beat her. i’ve done everything possible to help them try to get on the right path (bills paid, gave her a car, etc.) it would take too long to answer about her choice in men. i will just say that she left our house at 14 and was in an emotionally abusive relationship at that point before she met the x-husband when she was around 20 yrs old. got hooked on meth and stayed w him for 9 years. i don’t think she will ever go back to an abuser, but the current one is doing little to find work or stay off the pills that he knows makes him crazy.
as far as the union thing, not all correctional officers are members of the union, it is not mandatory. many of them are as pissed at the union as outsiders. it would seem illegal for people to work as many as 32 hours or more in 2 days (not griping about no over-time paid bc of furlough situation, how about safety?) the californians who have lost 15% of their pay care very much about the work furloughs.
ok, nothing said to incite anyone hopefully, just wanted to answer Claire’s question and it’s back to training talk for me. ![]()

But something to think about, though I don’t want to make you mad: why do you get involved with people who get charged with felonies? Is it (consciously or subconsciously) a choice or are those just the people you happened to meet?
nah u wouldnt make me mad!
one is an ex boyfriend, one is a friend, one is a relative, one is unclassified as of today.
there can be a whole lot of arguments for the subconscious decisions we make, but i’m not aware of anything in particular that they have in common that draw me to them.

Hell, i’d say at least 75% of the girls/women i’ve attracted were either, abused, raped, assaulted, depressed, or combinations of any of those.
From what I gather, it has to do with the subconcious which acts like radar and apparently, it’s what makes us choose who we are attracted to… both good and bad. At least that’s what Dr. Drew says…

way behind. finals. thats all.
so i was up for deadlift, but between crap sleep, 3/4 bottle of wine, and LOTS of drama last night, and 2 finals today, i decided I’d just go and play around.
db swings, 3x15. 35lb, 30lb, 30lb.
seated moo raises, 45lbs. focusing on the stretch at the bottom, pause at the top. 3x15.
walking on the track upstairs for about 15 min. it was empty, my headphones were loud, it was lovely.
im now eating eggs, hashbrowns cooked in bacon grease, mixed up in a bowl.
there will be a toasted cinnamon raisin bagel smothered with pb for dessert.
then much of the sleepy.
For your sake, I hope finals are over soon and the bliss of school break will soon commence.
pretty amazing

It took me a little while to figure this out
Interesting take on the word felon. I decided not to reply right away but to reflect. I’ve known felons and I’ve known people that have made mistakes. I believe a felon to be a person that doesn’t want or refuses to change their behavior. People make mistakes that’s our nature as humans, but to learn, grow and correct those mistakes, a person that does this I think removes the “felon” tag.
Keep up the training and good luck on those finals!
Edit: MaximusB if you could pm me more about your post, I’m interested to hear why you stated that about the unions and the government situation in Cali.

Danke schon.
so galileo has been in the hospital since monday with atypical pneumonia. i got a message at 1015 on thursday morning that said he was being put into ICU… scary stuff, bc i lost a friend a couple years ago to drunk driving and i never got the chance to say goodbye… not that galileo is dying tomorrow, but i didnt want to risk it.
I left for Ky at 1230, and after i spent a few hours with galileo**, i went to see molly, and shenanigans resulted. my usual, her usual. me pulling shenanigans, her rolling her eyes at me, and telling the other people that its part of my program to be “out” once a month, to try to reintroduce me to regular society.
**while in the hospital, i introduced myself to the nurses and aides that I am galileo’s daughter (hes old enough). somehow, we had started talking about handcuffs, when he mentioned that he had some in one of his bags, i didnt believe him. I had just finished laying out 3 pairs of real handcuffs, 2 pairs of black leather ankle/wrist straps with spikes, a black leather collar with spikes, and the key.
I had just finished laying all of this on the bed when the nurse came in the room to check the spot where they drained a liter (seriously) of fluid from his lungs. as soon as she left, i cracked up laughing. galileo, on the other hand, was oblivious, until i pointed out that he and his daughter had an array of naughty items spread out onto his hospital bed. apparently, when u have atypical pneumonia that the hospital can barely control and you start laughing, your pulse ox drops. hmm. who knew.
Sorry to hear about G I will be praying for him
