ok so now i’ve bitched.

thursday i deadlifted, friday night involved beer and wings, and saturday i slept till about 3, getting up periodically to let the doggie out.

so today, i deadlift and squat, again.

the good news? i may have found a training partner/spotter. dunno if i mentioned him before, but i caught him doing power cleans with perfect form a couple months ago. started a conversation a couple weeks after, and didnt see him for awhile. i was convinced he must have been a tactile hallucination. he knew about structrual integrity, sent his son to WestSide for football training, it couldnt have been real.

except, it was! I’ve talked him into lifting with me on occasion. totally plan on picking his brain as MUCH as possible! plans set for later this afternoon.

so, thursday deadlifting:

in the school gym again, and they dont have a belt tight enough for me to deadlift in, so i had to stop my weight at 235. eh. ok. note to self* BUY MY OWN FUCKING BELT!!

bar, bar, 95, 115, 135, 155, 175, 185, 205(<–all x5), 225x3, 235xi forget bc my camera is in the kitchen and im too lazy to go get it. i’ll youtube it and edit with the link during daylight hours.

did some wg pullups and good mornings for accessory work.

another WIN: got the hobbit to try pullups with the band. he’s convinced. wants to get some of his own, so he can teach himself to do 1arm pullups, apparently a crucial move in rock climbing, esp with the instability the bands provide.

You’ve got my sympathies on the long distance thing. My fella not only lives at the other end of the country but is also a workaholic who is running his own business which is trying desperately not to go under during the recession. I think I’ve seen him three times this year. I have carpal tunnel.

Cal- time for an overshare- for me, masturbation is kinda like throwing a water balloon at a mushroom cloud. it makes you feel better for a minute, but doesnt help the big problem. I will be seriously in awe of you if you can get a one arm pull-up. The only way I could do that would be to amputate both my legs. And much as I’m irritated by the dodgy knees, bum ankle and wobbly thighs, I would rather have them than not. (Unless I could get a really cool pair of cyborg legs that would make me run faster than Usain Bolt - but I don’t think science has quite got there yet).

I’m assuming the reason that you wear a belt to deadlift over 235 is safety for your back muscles? I don’t have a belt yet. Maybe someday. If I could get an orange one, that would make me very happy. :slight_smile:

kimba- yeah, i try to wear a belt above 220 or so, just to help me brace my back. turns out its getting pretty strong!

ive tried deadlifting in regular pants, and it just doesnt feel right without the bar scraping my shins. everything feels… weird with long pants while im deadlifting.

and, they were on walmarts clearance rack.

Deadlifts look solid. There’s a teeny bit of rounding on reps 2 and 3 but it’s pretty negligible and I’m in no position to comment. My last attempt at 242 was so ugly it made an instructor cry.
Nice work. And I don’t mind the pants.
