yay!

Well, on the food front, I seem to be able to go a month with lots of food while staying pretty lean.

you’re practically begging me to slap you around a little with that hint of a self deprecating comment, aren’t you?

DOOOOOOO IT!

ok. story.

10 years ago, one of my older brothers brings home a yugoslavian exchange student he’d befriended at college. it was easter break, and my good catholic mother wouldnt hear of a friend so far away at home stuck alone in a dorm for a week.

this man, djordje, not only started my love for slavic languages, it was the first time id gazed in awe at someone’s physique. (he’s built much like my jim) he threw shot and discus.

so where the fuck is the food, right?

Mom made chili. the family sat down to eat, talk, laugh. 4 bowls later, djordje and i are the only ones eating. mom is hanging out at the table, chatting (making sure i dont say anything inappropriate to our guest), and refilling. after bowl four, i decided to go for another, which prompted my mother to ask if djordje wanted more. he declined, but said that he would stay just to watch me finish a 5th bowl. never one to pass up a challenge, i sure as shit finished that 5th bowl. (mind you, these arent fruitcup sized little shits. we mean business when we eat at my house.)

just to make sure i didnt go throw it all up, he insisted that i watch a movie with him and my brother that night. oh sweet punishment!

cal-> i’ll allow you to deliver mail, as long as you wear boots and that short little skirt!

alisa-> i’ve been watching your food. you’ve been slacking. however, im glad you’ve realized you can, and should, eat more.

just because i’ve already started, i’ll keep logging my food for the day. i dont count kcal and never have. if im curious i call molly and make her do it for me.

pwo-> 2 scoops IsoPure ZeroCarb protein (50g protein, some glutamine, some leucine, and lots of other big words in there that i dont care to read or retype.) mixed with 2 scoops superfood. also, 2g glutamine in tablet form, and 4,000iu Vitamin D.

when i finish my liter of water and the last of my coffee i’ll make a solid meal. hope i come up with something by then.

training*

god this post is getting so long its annoying me.

squat and bench, x3.

i skipped friday and saturday lifting so i did both today. squats didnt go so well. my dog ate the tightening apparati on my vibrams, so i felt slippy, and i fought the urge to squatmorning even just 175lbs. bench, however, went well.

s- bar, bar, 65, 85, 95, 115,135, 155, 175, 175.

b- bar, bar, 65, 85, 95, 105, 115, 135, 145, 155

accessory- all lower body. was running out of gymtime.

box squats, 1 or 2 inches below parallel, 135x10x3
superset with planks.

single leg hip thrusts, no midget. 12x3 each leg.
superset with planks

back extensions, 1x10xbw 1x10x25lbs
superset with thoughts of vomit

oh and kimba. i tried taping my plate slides while i was warming up. you can get the general idea, but ask me to hold a camera and push a 25lb plate around with my foot in a straight line and you can watch me fail. will upload asap.

Awesome. Waiting with bated breath.

And, I’m assuming you didn’t throw up the chili 'cause vomit (if it happened) would definitely have made it into the story.

P.S. Slavic languages and I are a total fail. 2 years of college Russian and…nothing remains. That shit was hard.

priceless!

Eh, about your pwo shake…no carbs? no nails?

[quote]skyel7 wrote:

nope. i feel better without carbs in my pwo shake, esp if im already in a vomitous state. they’re def in the solid meal that follows, though.

so as i was getting ready to hook up the camera and upload the plate slide video, mom called to ask why i hadnt shown up for dinner in the last hour… whoopsie. i made haste to get over there, bc they’d saved me food.

so, dinner was 6 or 7 bbq pork ribs, a baked potato with butter and salt (even ate the skin), about 2 cups of apple salad, about 30oz orange juice. i got sent home with the last of the pie, about 2 pieces of it. havent figured out what kind it is yet, looks like dutch apple.

ok, so, plate slides. i like them for activating my abductors and adductors, using the inside and outside of my foot to push, not kick, the plate along its path. i go about 10 “steps” in one direction, then 10 in the other… inside of left on the way down, inside of right on the way back, outside of right on the way down, outside of left on the way back. about 6 trips all together.

link: plate slides... ish. - YouTube

EDIT: i’ve been up for 8 hours. it’s time to shower and go to bed. nite!

Ha! Maybe I was hoping for a tune-up

Seriously though I hadn’t meant it that way.

It’s against a guy in senior management and one of my co-workers thinks that’s not a contest I should want to win. :stuck_out_tongue:

I had a previous challenge a lot like yours eating pizza where I out ate a 200lb co-worker. Heh. He had a can of coke though–that was his mistake.

OH OH OH! These would be perfect for me. There is nowhere at my gym to do these, but if’n I bought a plate and wrapped it in a towel so it wouldn’t scratch my slick wood floor, I’ve got a long, smooth open spot in my big-ass kitchen to go back and forth in.

Speaking of that, what I really want to do is buy a barbell and a few plates to have at home for complexes. Firing up craigslist…

Adding plate sides to my list of things to do! Before training I presume?

I do them before training, to help activate mah stuffs. I also do em on my recovery days, or when i feel a little tight. so, pretty much anytime! I cant imagine doing em pwo, tho… for fear id be too tired to push around even a25lb plate!

kimba- howd the craigslist search go?

plate slides… hmmm.

nice work , I was feeling pretty vomitous as well.

I like x walks…with tube/bands, but will give plate slides a go.

Found a few possibles.

But I just discovered that if I put my 12 kg kettlebell in a small-ish box, I can shove that 10 steps up and down my hallway with my foot. Free is my price on this one.

And, my left adductor/abductor is FREAKISHLY so much weaker than my right. Sliding that kettlebell with my right foot is easy. My left foot, not easy.

Imbalance, much?

Hmm, now there’s an idea. Will definitely try these.

jfc 3 hours of sleep, a midterm at 6, and lots on my mind. who knew that the headache would follow soon after the failed nap.

anyone know how much caffiene is safe per day? im up to a gram.

kimba- so glad you found something that works!

cal and puppetman- DEFINITELY give the plate slides a shot… even if its just once in awhile.

EDIT: hungry, the site says you posted last in my log but i cant see it!

training*

ok, so i managed to lift today. did it at the school gym (note to self- get tetanus shot, and bring own broomstick/belt), with the hobbits supervision, bc it was overhead press day. the LAST thing i want is to be lifting on 3 hours of sleep, and i knew none of my regulars would be at the Y to look out for me.

OHPx3

bar, bar, 65, 75, 85, 95, 105, 115(x5). yeah thats right. the 115 that gave me fits last week bc i could get only 1.5 reps was my bitch today. i managed to summon enough “kill” and anger to throw that shit up!

accessory work;

1 arm db ohp, 1 arm at lockout, 1 arm pressing. 20lbs, 12x2
superset with
flat db bench, 20lbs, 12x2
superset with
planks, till i fall.

did 2 sets of pullups with the green band, bc i suck at wide grip. switched to neutral after 5 reps each set for a total of 15 pullups x2 sets. *story

1 set kroc rows, 60lbs x15 each side.

*story- the hobbit had never seen a band used that way before. the pullup station at the school gym has a plate assist lever thingy on it, and he said he prefers the plate assist. I asked if he could explain why. he couldnt.

so i explained that any instability in your core is going to be magnified by the principle of “give” and elasticity in the band, forcing you to work your core harder to stabilize even if the band is providing an assist with the lift itself, and that the plate weighted lever would guide a person more toward a single plane of movement, and not encourage them to use their core for any kind of stability, reducing the effectiveness of the movement, on top of providing an assist.

he had no argument, or retort, and couldnt even come up with a joke. yep. i win.

Your body will tell you when you’ve had enough caffiene. Such as headaches, upset stomach, and just feeling like crap, overall.

oh i was there by 10am.

way to make that 115 ur bitch. damn that’s a nice ohp set woman.

Cbear,
Holy shit. I just went over to the FA training logs. There are red. people. And people who don’t know why they are gaining weight or why they are miserable. I thought you were exaggerating. Is that site a parody? That is seriously not healthy.
uh huh huh… *shivers
