Hey all, I’ve been doing a 5/3/1 for the past year. oct-May have been a full body 5/3/1 and from june to now has been BBB with an exception of a 4 week cycle of 5/3/1 to joker sets and thats it getting ready for my strongman comp last month. I’ll be testing everything this week and am shooting for a 405 squat, 450 DL, and 275 bench, which I got paused back in May but haven’t spent alot of time benching other than assistance work, so don’t expect much in the way of a PR of that. I got no more SM comps til February and there’s one PL meet in early Nov that I probably won’t be doing because of the timing of my cycle. I’ll be doing my first meet next year, but want to finish up the year w/ Cube to give myself a break from the volume I’ve had, followed by Smolov to get myself back into the volume/frequency mode for a bit.
My goal was 450 squat, 500 dl, 275 OHP, and 315 bench by year end but I think a 525-550 DL, 475+ lb squat, 275 OHP, and 355 bench by jan/feb will be more likely if smolov works as well as everybody says…I just need a volume break before I start though, so we shall see!

Im not sure a 100lb increase on deadlift and 80lb increase on bench from now to jan-feb is that likely.[/quote]
Well, you gotta shoot for the moon, because even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.

Completely untrue. If you shoot for the moon and miss you end up floating around in the void of space and dying of old age before you reach the first star, unless perhaps it’s the sun. Do you have any idea of how much farther away stars are then the moon?

Best motivational speaker ever!
The numbers came from average cube results and average smolov results. I will be doing smolov jr for 2 cycles with smolov squat
I started with a 245 squat and 265 DL last October after a knee injury and have gained about 170 on DL and 120 on squats with a mostly full body template so running the cube followed by smolov will be taxing but the goals I don’t think are unreasonable given where I currently am at
I’ve run the cube kingpin method for a total of 3/4 cycles. I used the format found in 365 strong. As far as i being a break from volume, I would say that that’s untrue if you follow the template as written. Before i started the cube is was running 531. The cube gave me results. on usually put 20-30 lbs on my squat/deadlift.
My Bench stalled out early in the first cycle, but i gained around 10-15 lbs on the following cycles. 531 was working for me and the results are similar to the cube kingpin, except the cube kingpin has ton of crap you have to do. I like both programs, if you’re bored, switch it up. Both programs have worked for me.
