My Ideal Physique

185-190, really depends for you.

Ryan Renolds has a lot of lean muscle really, just at his height he looks a lot skinnier.

whatever man, to each his own.

I prefer the look of someone like Frank Zane but thats me.

Last I checked Ryan Reynolds didnt have any problems getting laid. Ask 10 girls (that you dont know) and show them a picture of Jay Cutler or Ryan Reynolds (from Amityville Horror) or Frank Zane’s beach picture and ask what body type they prefer.

As much as I respect the guys who have bodytypes of Jay Cutler, Ronnie Coleman, etc etc…its just not that attractive to MOST women (not ALL, just most). But hey, its your body, your life, and your goals. Just make sure you do everything the right way.

Good luck.

If your goal is simply to look “hawt”, then you’re a weak, sad, sonofabitch. However; if you decide to be stronger than everyone around you, especially than some pretty-boy actor, and stronger than you ever though possible, then you’ve got something actually worthwhile.

I don’t particularly agree with the OP, but how is it a more valid or worthwhile goal to be stronger than others than to want to look good?
And good is subjective, so don’t jump on the “he doesn’t look good, he’s skinny” wagon.

Unless you are trying to be strong for the benefit of others, which is doubtful unless you are a firefighter or something similar, both are pretty ego-centric goals.

I say to each his own.

This was one of the most insipid posts ever. Not only is the pseudo analysis completely off but you made some pretty inane assumptions about me. Nobody told me I should be like anything, and in fact, every single person in my life tells me I’m perfectly fine the way I am. Clearly I don’t want to “BE” Ryan Reynolds, I’m just inspired, the same way I’d look at a picture of Steve Reeves and say to myself “Wow”. It’s just a motivational tool that shows me that if someone else can do it, why can’t I? I see nothing wrong with this. Your post fails.
hahaha … for someone who wants EVERYONE to know that you want to look like Ryan Reynolds (Freud was right btw) you sure get butt hurt easily about what other people say. And you’re right, you are a tool.
Velz wrote:

That was a joke. The fact that he’s still alive is a claim beyond refute that he eats. Stop being stupid.

You’ve demonstrated that you don’t like bodybuilding. So leave this bodybuilding website.

My point, for those who didnt understood, is that mr Ryan gets laid because he is an actor, not because he has defined abs.

Lemmy of motorhead, gets laid too you know. The fame does that.

But i give that to the OP. Yes you have your right to strive to whatever goal you choose. I was speaking in a general manner.

OP,

This is fairly simple, you have a goal (whether I or anybody else agrees with it is irrelevant), it is more muscular than you are already therefore the solution is to get bigger, add muscle.

When you have built the amount of muscle you desire then maintain, it’s that simple. Once you have the look you want stand on a scale, this will give you the answer to how much you need to weigh in order to look the way you want to.

I consider bulking to be the act of building muscle, if you don’t want to bulk then you don’t want to add muscle. If you do it slowly then it’s just a slow bulk. Out of interest, for those who don’t think you bulk what term do you use for building muscle?

Apparently it’s called Pilates.

This isn’t “Get laid in 30 days”, this is T-Nation, a site concerned with adding muscle mass and strength. Before coming here, you are expected to have worked out your reasons for wanting to get bigger and stronger. Don;t come here and philosophize about what girls find attractive. MAybe we should add a forum on romantic poetry and music to assist you in your goals. Most of us have gotten or are getting laid frequently and are building mass for many otehr reasons, mainly for self improvement and personal challenges.

Yes, 125 pound guys (and so do guys like Kevin James and the fat guy rom Howard Stern)get laid as well with fine looking women, so thats not the intent of this site.
Don;t come here with bland statements about “uhh…de gals said dey prefer skinny guys…”. There are other sites which cater to those tastes. If you want an aesthetic physique and 6 pack abs, you have menshealth which has very good articles I use for my own cutting purposes. IF youre on here, don;t bleat about meanshealth/crossfit goals.

By “slowly add muscle” I meant I don’t want to bulk. To me, bulking is for someone that wants to add as much muscle as possible in as little amount of time as possible. I don’t have a deadline to meet or a competition to prep for, so I have no need to bulk and look like shit 3/4’s of the year. I’m perfectly fine with taking a slower approach to adding muscle that comprimises my body fat as little as possible.
Unfortunately you’ve been greatly mislead. You can either gain muscle, or not gain muscle. Bulking simply means building muscle.

In order to gain muscle, you must gain at least some fat. Sorry, but that’s just the truth of things. Now, of course if you manipulate your diet right you can gain a large percentage of weight from muscle and a much smaller percent from fat. But, even in the most rigid of diets, you will most likely gain at best something like 70% muscle and 30% fat.

Also, why would you not want to minimize the time it takes you to reach your goals? I guess I can understand that you are just now coming from a place of having a very high body fat percentage and the thought of putting body fat back on is not a pleasant one.

But, try to understand that the muscle you will be gaining will actually speed up your Basal metabolism, thus making it much easier for you to get “ripped” later on down the road. However, if you never eat enough to actually build this muscle, then even though you’ll stay lean, you may never achieve the body you’re after.

Good luck and good training,

Sentoguy

LOL. Crucify me for not wanting to be 250 lbs of useless mass.

That statement right there was enough to prove that you are too ignorant to deserve any decent answer.

Why are you on a bodybuilding website?

And the “xs” on your shirt tag doesn’t mean that you have an excess of body mass.

I’m on a body building website because it’s a very helpful site and I learned a lot from it. Maybe you didn’t know, but the principles of bodybuilding aren’t limited to contesting in Mr. Olympia.

And the “XS” on my shirt tag may not mean an excess of body mass, but it does mean I’m extra sexy, and I’m ok with that.

I’m cracking up…when I started on the iron, I was 126 lbs at 5’7 wearing XS, why the fuck do you want to equate my former scrawny ass size to a badge of honor?

I don’t consider any clothing size a badge of honor. I just like my undershirts to be as tight as possible is all.
So you and my brother’s friend Craig have the same goals, and that kid is skinny fat…go figure

is this the reason why you want hawt abzzz?

Stop posting that picture.

Hey, at least he didn’t choose the Brad Pitt in Fight Club pic.

Velz: We get a lot of this type of question around here so don’t be too surprised by the flames. Nice job defending yourself though, you obviously have some smarts. It sounds to me like you want to gain some muscle mass without re-gaining the fat you’ve just worked hard to lose. Nothing wrong with that (check out CT’s “The Truth About Bulking” article).

My advice is not to worry too much about the specific goals (i.e. How much mass do I have to add to look like ____). Rather, worry about how you going to reach those goals. This site is an incredible resource. Dig in!

P.S. A clean bulk is what you need nutritionally. A diet of lean meat, complex carbs and veggies finds it’s way to your muscles, not your belly. If your BF% rises a little, you can adjust your diet and training to compensate. Don’t be afraid to experiment. It’s fun.

This might not be the ideal for a BBuilder but it sure is the bodytype the average guy (me for example) would like to have and it is also the type of body all women want:

Tall,lean,fit,muscular without being stocky…
Horazio wrote:

Dude, I guarantee there are several women on this site alone who will disagree that this is what all women want.

You are also pretty lost if you think some women don’t like “stocky” guys.

Sorry, I just finished reading the thread about the pussification of American boys, just now.

Its not all of us. Im 18 and am nothing like those assholes.

Clearly, Velz has fallen for one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well-known is this: never go in against the T-Nation size queens when your bodybuilding goals are on the line! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Just kidding, I’m fine. I spent the last few years building up an immunity to protein powder…

…nope…

Let me tell you an analogy

Hotness/Beaty is to Men
what
Personality is to Women.

get it?
