Hey guys. It’s been a while since my last post here, but recently, I’m in need of some assistance. I’ve been on a diet for a few months now and am now about 3 weeks out from my goal of 7% body fat (I started at around 20%).
Once I reach my goal, however, I’m not just going to sit back and soak up the sun. Losing fat has always been my main goal, but once I accomplish this, I’d like to set off on a smaller, more long term goal and gradually gain some muscle. Notice I did not say bulk, but “gradually gain muscle”. I’m 5’ 10", and when I get off my diet, I should weigh in the mid 170’s post carb reintroduction. So I guess my question is the following…
If I would like to obtain a physique similar to that of Ryan Reynolds, around how many more lbs of muscle should I aim to put on? He’s 6’ 3", and I’m only 5’10", however, I’m not sure how much he weighs. I was thinking about adding something along the lines 15 lbs of muscle or so, which would make me 5’ 10" 185-190 lbs. How does this sound to you guys?
Also, since I’m already posting, what are the best times to consume peanut butter? I include a slice of whole wheat, high fiber bread with an even spread of Smart Balance Omega in my morning meal, but that’s as far as peanut butter goes in my diet. I love peanut butter lol, and I’ve read that the body handles fat better at night, so would another slice of bread with peanut butter at night be conducive towards fat loss or no?
Or maybe without the bread, and just blend the peanut butter in with my last shake of the day? When do you guys eat your peanut butter, or if you were in my situation, when would you? Thanks for your help as always guys.
I’d put him a bit above skinny…but why wouldn’t you want to be at least a bit bigger than that. His arms are kinda lanky and his core lacks real shape. Kinda like a tree trunk…a fairly skinny one. Although he’s 6’3 so he’s bigger than he looks in a picture. For a 5’10" guy you should aim for a bit bigger physique…imo

I think the real question is, why would I want a be bigger than that? And he is a little lanky looking, but he’s 6’3". At 5’10" it’s pretty difficult for me to look lanky, and even now before I set off for some extra muscle mass, I don’t look lanky at all. Meh. At least answer my question about the peanut butter lol.

How is he above skinny? I’d actually put him at scrawny.
I would like to be a lot bigger than that. Oh wait, I eat, therefore I am bigget than that.
Most of the chicks that are regular posters on here have better developed arms.
Since he doesn’t really lift any weights.
Like a twig.
I have a buddy who is 6’3", with equally low bodyfat and pretty similar build. He weighs about 170 on a good day. So no, I don’t think that dude is bigger than he looks. If that guy is pushing 165 I’d be surprised.
A lot bigger. Aiming for a bit bigger at 5’10" means aiming for, oh, 5 pounds more than emo-maciated.

I think the real question is why the fuck do you think he’s big at all? I think the average T-man wouldn’t have any problem overhead pressing that little twig and tossing him a few yards.
Peanut butter is good in the morning because the fat will give you energy to last for a while and you don’t really need to load up on carbs/protein way before your workout. The meal before my workout I aim for carbs protein. Same for the after meal. The second time I have peanut butter is actually for “desert”.
I make peanut butter chocolate bars with a modified recipe by John Berardi. You can find the recipe on his site www.johnberardi.com under nutrition I think. They taste oh so damn good and the protein to keep repair going through the night and the fat to keep my body from using gloycogen stores makes for a good combo.

I think the REAL question is why the fuck do you think I care what the average T-man can overhead press??? I never considered him “big” really, just lean and fit, which is a physique I’d like to have, just a bit more muscular I suppose as I enjoy filling out wifebeaters too much to become lanky.

LOL. Crucify me for not wanting to be 250 lbs of useless mass. Screw Ryan Reynolds for a second. How much do you think someone that’s 5’10" should weigh at 7-8% body fat?
WTF is with the metro-emo queer crowd posting on here lately?
Fuck, did they change this to estrogen nation and I missed the memo?
Clearly you didn’t miss the memo because here you are clawing at me and kicking your heels off in a tantrum like a sissy. I don’t see what makes Ryan Reynolds “metro-emo queer” other than the fact that you’re too busy trying to be a tough guy who can’t appreciate, or at the very least, respect all walks of life, regardless of whether you agree with them or not.
I was talking to Scarlete Johanson the other day and she was complaining about how, when she was banging Ryan Reynolds, that she was thinking he was just too small. What she’s really looking for in a guy is someone who’s 18% - 24% bodyfat, but fools themselves into thinking they’re ripped by sucking in their stomach and standing “just so” under their bathroom lights.

I dobut he’s particularly fit in any athletic sense. Lean, sure. Don’t eat, run a lot, do some yoga, you’re good to go.
which is a physique I’d like to have, just a bit more muscular I suppose as I enjoy filling out wifebeaters too much to become lanky.
Ok, then find someone who actually eats and lifts weights and post a picture of that, then ask questions.
I’d like to know where you get your groundless claims that he doesn’t eat from. Stop being stupid. And I’ll post pictures of a grandmother of 3 if that’s what I want to be like. Since you’re so knowledgeable though, instead of being utterly useless, maybe you can post pics of someone I should better model myself after and help me out.

a) Who said anything about 250 lbs? But a decent sized 6’3 guy ought to break 200 lbs.
No thanks.
There’s a whole thread about that already. I have no idea, go calculate it with that formula. Its the maximum bodyweight thread or something like that.
I mean if you’re trying to look metro then I think you shouldn’t weigh more than 155-160 at your height–and even then you’d probably be too muscular for your taste. Ask your manicurist…
I don’t care how big or small or whatever you want to get. Apparently you want to look slightly bigger than really skinny. Great. But I’m not sure why you need any advice on how to loose muscle.
