Phill, That’s great news! With your mom’s determination and your love and support she’s going to make a speedy recovery. We’ll continue to keep her in our prayers.
BTW. I don’t know if she’d like being called a “tough old bird.” (kidding)
Get some rest, she’s going to need your help if she’s coming home tomorrow.
Good to read that your Mother is improving and things are looking promising, it is flattering to us as a group that you would turn to us for support. Though we are certainly a motley, rag-tag group with a proclivity for off-topic arguing and dry-humping I suppose a guy could do worse…
As the many posts indicate there are many thoughts going out to you, please add mine as well…
…and please tell Mom that we expect a new PR in her squat by the end of summer.
“Mother is the name for God in the lips and hearts of little children”
Cake, once again you outdid yourself. Thank you and great post.
Not to much new to report. I went up for a few hrs befor they made us leave for the night. No exact date on when they will release her. They are letting her get up and move around tomarrow, and see how that goes.
She pleaded and begged then befor they finally gave in to her demand for some decaf coffee. She is a coffeee nut as I am.
With any luck we will have her home by thursday at the latest and go from there with out patient work.
Sad news indeed. It sounds like your dedication to your mom’s health has already given her a great deal of strength – both physical and mental. You can be proud to have helped her develop the toughness and determination to face this trial. My best wishes to your family.
Well guys just fig’d I would stop here and giva another hello and show some more appreciation for all the support.
I actually was able to get about five hrs of sleep and eat a little. I probably only had maybe near 100 k/cals the whole of the day though. So today I am going to be hording my moms supply of grow. I have simply lost my appetite. The grow though should be something I can force myself to take down and be sure I am atleast getting my protein.
Fitone. Oh I have turned her on to green tea. She and I drink quite a bit. But we both have a deep seated love for our coffee. They are limiting her fluids and this is the one small cup she gets and she wanted coffee, I not not going to be the one to try and say no.
Also I am not sure if you got my last post a while back on coffee but seems it may just have near as mnay health benefits as green tea as an antioxidant.
here is a link to the thread with an article
Thanks for looking out for us though.
Well 51/2 more hrs and they will let me in to see her again.
thanks again all, i have been passing on all the well wishes and she knows she has this huge and loving community behind her.
She is bitching at the nurses to stop giving her so many pain meds, she doesnt like the way the make her less alert. She would rather be alert and deal with a little pain.
They are now letting her have coffee, she actually took damn near all of mine also. I wasnt going to say no.
She is should be up and walking at any minute.
She is already asking me how much this is going to effect her DL’s she has been bustin butt to raise up, and when she can start lifting again. I just told her lets get you home first then we can worry about that.
She has lost 15 lbs since being admitted on sunday and is none to happy about that.
I think really in many ways she is doing better than me. I have probably lost damn near as much as her since I found out about this monday AM. Just have no appetite. Doing a little better today though. I am able to throw down lots of grow from her stash pretty easily. I didnt tell her though, she hordes that stuff. It was actually hidden and I had to find it and pack some to bring with me.
Well that is about it for now. Thanks once again and I will come nack with anything new for you all.
Any updates on your mom? I didn’t want you to think we’d forgotten about her (and you). Hope she’s home real soon. Hospitals are the worst place for recovery. Take care. Lexie
Great news about your mother! Yes, an intense desire to get out of the hospital and back in the gym is damn good medicine. Let me know if you need some more Grow!
I went through a similar experience with my Mom a few years ago. She does indeed sound like, as you said, ‘a tough old bird’. My best wishes to you and your family for a speedy recovery and your Mom’s quick return to her new path in life. Take care
Still waiting to get her out. The hold back now is getting rid of any balance issues. It seem with the surgery on her brain and the fluid draining she is still a little off kilter when walking and has to grab something from time to time. They want that straight befor she goes.
Other than that doing great. High spirits, eating solid food, and not too happy with the choices I must say. She gripes to the nurses and stuff about the bad quality of food and all the high GI crap they try to force at you. Makes me proud. They always ask her why she didnt eat her bread or roll and she tells them she is trying to limit her junk food, and that white bread is junk food. Also, telling them a thing or 2 about the small amount of protein in their meals.
Other than that I hope to have more to report today.
Thanks again for all the support. It has been a great help.
Well they are taking her in for an MRI now. This will tell how the surgery is healing and such and hopefully remove the tube from her head.
She is upset about having to start from scratch again witht the weights. I assured her it will come back much quicker this time.
Other than that not much to report. I should know more in several hrs. I have to burn 2 hrs waiting.
She said she is ready to get home, that way at least if she is having to just sit around at least she can get on the forumn and chEck stuff out. Maybe this will force her out of her lurking status.
All is doing good though it seems. Thank you all for your thoughts and hopes of well being. I am also keeping her updated on all of your response and she is very touched.
Thanks for the regular updates Phill. I’m sure a lot of us are following along even though we don’t have much to say.
I have to say I like your mothers gumption! Finally, you’d think hospitals would serve food or at least provide options that would let people eat well.
Oh you should have heard the ear full about the food I got this morning. I guess they brought her a pancake, topped with a cinnamon bun, which was then inturn topped with butter, syrup and a side of bacon.
She was none to happy. She has beeen doing so well with her dietary changes.
I cant beleive it either. That is just a great meal for someone needing quality nutrients to heal.
Then they come in an hr or so later while I am there to test her blood sugar and say well for some reason your blood sugar is a little high. We are going to have to give you a shot to take it down. Which most likly cost a few hundred bucks. I told the nurse that it couldnt possiby be due the the pancake, cinnamon bun, and syrup you all brought her could it.
She said well that is a good possibility. No SH*&
Anyway enough of my little rant.
Thank you for your words.
I forgot to add in my previous updates that I talked the nurse into slipping her something to help her sleep last night. She hadnt been sleeping between all the visitors and just not being able. So she got some sleep last night.
