My Friend Cleaned 385 Today...

To be accurate he jumping-dealifted-reverse-curled 385 lbs.
And get this, he only had THREE spotters.
Wow…
I didn’t believe you could spot the clean.
One spotter on each end acting as collars, and one in the middle. What does that work out to be? 95? 98 pounds a person…
Please tell me it isn’t only my high school that condones shitty lifting.

your friend is not alone

This is just sad.

Surely you mean your friendS??

Well… Glad to know this isn’t isolated…
but perhaps we are facing an epidemic here!?
=)

I read lifting like that is one of the leading causes of low sperm count in men!

Every time I see that video it depresses me.

Sounds like your coach needs to be fired or trained on how to properly teach the olympic lifts. When used properly they’ll provide so much benefit to the athletes. When used like he’s doing, he’s putting them at risk for injury and wasting their training time.

I was listening to an interview with a college football coach a couple of weeks ago and he said they account for cheating at the lifts in high school athletes. He specifically said they generally take whatever they claim to squat and divide it by 2. It’s just sad.

I read something similar from one of the elitefts contributors (I think it was there, it’s been awhile). They said at the college level they reduce every number they here about a high school athlete from his coach or the athlete himself- especially in the squat, since the depth is usually lacking.

lol I would love to see how that team plays…if they can’t even lift weight it must be fun to watch.

You know, it actually gets funnier the more you watch it.

I never thought I would see something that stupid.

Sorry, couldn’t resist

I never though I would I would I would…
No, I should let that die.

Any way update to this thread, same guy says he is dead lifting 500Lbs, I’ll be back later.
Assuming I don’t die of laughter.

can I watch? haha

At my high school we didn’t have any weights for phys’ ed, it came down to mostly cardio stuff.

I bet these are the same guys who put 4 plates on each side then go down 5inches then come back up bouncing the bar on they back then go home and back to school telling everybody they did 400+ lbs. Its a shame.

Did he use 3 spotters for the deadlift too?
