What I’ve been doing is letting the weights literally touch, as gently and quietly as possible, else the noise scares the cardio-bunnies… I try to keep the tension on… I’m concerned they blast “the lunk alarm”. I haven’t seen anyone doing any form of deads…
Biggest difficulty is keeping back arched/straight whatever you call it… I tend to round shoulders when I first grab the weight and straighten as I come up…
I think I need to hold at the weights I’m doing for awhile and work form, work capacity, and allow strength to catch up with intent.
Gothca. many touch and go’s I have seen folks do have a pretty good bounce at the bottom.
If you are having challenges keeping a tight arch, and form in general, then I would still recommend resetting from the floor after each rep to do a mental checklist and get the bar, glute and back position right. Focusing on each rep as an individual event until the form becomes second nature can help avoid problems as the weight used climbs.
Felt GREAT from like 3 days after starting until about week 4…
weights went up on lifts after being stalled for a long long time.
body comp changed… Lots more definition.
gained like 4 lbs in a month… Not entirely welcome…
Now every once in a while just feel like crying… Physically I almost like I’m at a funeral of a loved one… It passes… Takes awhile…
Saw Dr. yesterday… Lowered dosage to 2 pumps from 4 Blood pressure was seriously high… Forgot that my blood pressure goes up 20+ the day after squats / deadlift day…
Shoulder is tweaked but good… traps, dorsal and lateral deltiods… and a little burning… Sharp pain during some pulling motions a little snap-krackle-pop with rotation. It has been dislocated too many times in my youth
Time to give it a rest.
Good thing today is squat/dead day… I’ll be very ginger with the deads as that’s sort of a pulling load…
If I think during set up, then the first reps the usually the cleanest…
Is it normal to feel it most in your bi’s and tri’s? I think the stretch has done them some good…
Give the reset approach a try…each rep should be as clean as the first. You don’t need constant tension during deads for them to be effective muscle builders.
Are you feeling discomfort or muscle soreness in your arms when doing deads? If so, you shouldn’t. Make sure your arms are straight before you pull (one of those set-up items).

3x3x295 PR!!!
Ok, so I can’t add… for lack of 2 of those little doughnuts… I did the reset between reps… I had to breath twice between last 2 reps on last set…
Thanks Giterdone!!! I think I will make reset a habit…

Cool! If you are anything like me, a PR makes me hungry for another one. If Im not careful this is when I screw up my back or shoulders because Im going for the number and not watching form. Hard and smart is the way. Sorry, that sounded preachy.
Maybe you explained this before and I missed it, but is there a reason you are doing squats in the Smith machine.
I look at the dedication/discipline/fortitude/passions of some of the members here… It is amazing and inspiring. Sure makes any excuse to miss a work out or not get the right sleep seem so lame…
The gym near work is Planet Fitness. Home of the dreaded lunk alarm… No squat racks only Smith machines. Fortunately it is in a challenged neighborhood, so there’s other guys and a couple girls that lift seriously there. I’m the only one dead lifting with the Olympic bar. I’ve only seen a couple people RDL or other variants.
If budget improves next year, there’s a Gold’s a little farther I would like to check out. But I’ll have to keep workouts real short to get back to work on time.
I know I have gotta heed the warning and go back to lower weight / higher reps… I was debating to go for reps or weight today all the way to the gym.
I had a frustrating day yesterday with my Son, with more to come.
Heavy stuff, seems to wipe away the frustrations and stress…

I feel for you on the frustrating day, I’m going through the teenage stuff with mine as well.

Gotcha. Sometimes you have to work with what you got. Good luck with your son.
