So after a 6 month shortage on cash, I finally squirreled away enough money to start training jiu jitsu. I’m training at a barrah affiliated school under Joe “the nose” wilk. One gi class, one MMA/no gi, and one muay thai/boxing day. First actual grappling training in a year was last night, and I have to say… what the hell have I gotten myself into. Haha don’t get me wrong, I loved it, but man was it painful. After six months of just lifting, and after adding roughly 20 lbs to my frame, I’ve really really lowered my cardio. Within the first five minutes I felt cramps coming on, within ten (this was all the pre drill cardio ran by a military guy) muscle cramps. Paced myself the rest of the night, but still did fairly well. What I learned my first day back. I lead too much with my face, my cardio is piss poor, and while my defense is decent, my offense is nearly non-existent… couldn’t feel better to be back.
