It actually helped by dropping a record amount of snow in the mountains. The most in approx. 40 years. Thanks for the compliment. It’s nice receiveing encouragement. It seems that a lot of the other threads will have regular “pissing contests.”

This is a pretty good forum except there are a lot of threads that aren’t related to over-35 LIFTERS, if you know what I mean. There isn’t any point in starting pissing contests. As long as people are getting help and support that’s all that matters.

If you are talking about Big Bear, that’s a pretty cool area. My wife and I cabined up there many years ago in the snow.

Yeah, Big Bear gives you the opportunity to go surfing in the morning and skiing in the afternoon.

2/20 Back Day

WideGrip pull ups: BW x 6 - (switched to WG Cable pull downs) 180 x 10, 190 x 5, 180 x 8

Seated close grip cable pull ins: 4 sets of 10
Single Arm DB Rows: 65 x 10, 70 x 10, 75 x 8

2/21 I’m taking a rest day, ready for legs on Monday

It was a long road to get her to start listening to me. First I told her the basics. Of course she doesn’t believe me, then gets a trainer. Trainer echos everything I’ve told her. Then finally I told her to save the money and just let me train her.

She listens to me now, somebody pinch me.

Thanks for the acolades[/quote]

I congratulate you for overcoming this major obstacle. It’s very difficult to train with your significant other, and as I was reading this post I was impressed that you could both workout at the same time. My ex-wife and I could never workout together, too competitive. It would just make her angry that she couldn’t lift as much as I would, or if I spotted something wrong with her form and tried to implement a correction I’d get the angry ‘I CAN DO IT’ glare. Nope, wasn’t about to go down that road. So, I had her train with a co-worker of mine, Lori, who I designed her programs anyways. Anyway, glad your wife finally listens to you…a truly major success IMO.

Sorry I haven’t posted anything in a couple weeks. The training has been going well, I was just too lazy to actually post it in my log.

Back Day

Deadlifts: 130lbs x 10 (slow reps), 180 x 9, 200 x 8, 220 x 7, 240 x 6, 260 x 5, 260 x 4, 260 x 4
I wasn’t really feeling it on my last two sets. My gloves were bugging me. I think it’s
to go with the wraps.

Single Arm DB Rows: 65’s x 10, 75’s x 10, 80’s x 9, 85’s x 9
Superman pull downs: 4 sets of 10
Seated Cable Rows: 4 sets of 10

Mrs. NvrTooLate - Leg Day

Squats: The Bar 4 sets of 15
Lunges: 8lb. DB’s 3 sets of 15
Leg Press 50lbs. 4 sets of 15
Superset leg curls w/ leg ext.: 4 sets of 15
Abs
20 min. cardio

I trained Mrs. NvrTooLate while getting mysets in. Here’s a conversation that took place:

Her: “How come you don’t have me doing abs very much?”
Me: “Because Abs are a small muscle group and abs are made in kitchen”
Her: “But Mark (old trainer) had us doing abs every day”
Me: “I’m having you do compound excercizes with large muscle groups, that will burn the most fat”
Her: “Hmm, I don’t know”
Me" Rolls eyes and walks away

Can someone unlock the secret of how to get my wife to listen to me?

After 25 years of marriage, I have found the key.

I will share it for the bargain price of 1 Billion dollars or you can wait for the e-book, which will be second to the Bible in worldwide popularity.

Sorry I am just a mortal man, no answers to lifes big mysteries but why not just have her do abs after every workout? If she’s still got the energy it couldn’t do any harm, kind of like throwing in curls at the end of a big compound workout. Either way good work!

I’m going to follow your advice. More for my well being.

Doesn’t hurt her, doesn’t interfere with training and weight loss effects, stops the silly questions.

Hell, yeah - have her do ab work.

That’s because we seem to have reached a point where a) We are willing to ask for help, b) We listen after we ask, and c) We mostly are able to leave our egos in check. We just want to get better. Dick measuring is no longer required…thank god!!!

Tell them what they ‘want’ to hear, not what they ‘need’ to hear. I think that works on me as well. Only real rule…No Bald-Faced Lies…works for me.
