my aching back

I recently started powerlifting, switching from bodybuilding. I do cleans, deadlifts and, pushpresses (all light weight because I am working on form) Is it normal to have sore knees and bach after doing this exercises. Also, my knees get sore after I squat. My knees crack and my lower back gets sore. Is that normal and is there anything I can to do prevent this form happening?

yes it is normal

stop the cracks and squeaks with wd-40

Really! The same wd-40 that is in my garage. Does that really work or are you just kidding?

works for me, i just spritz a little on my knees and low back and it really helps.

if that doesnt work try ice/heat and ibuprofen! or double up on the wd-40 dose.

I’ve tried the wd-40 and that worked out OK, but if you really want to solve the problem, you need to use a higher quality lubricant. I prefer KY jelly. Good luck, and let us know how it works out for you.

ky?! dont get me started, i have nightmares with ky. i always get these terrible rashes on my backside because of ky.

You may want to wear neoprene knee sleeves to keep your knees warm with moist heat while training.Yes muscle back soreness is normal while squating and cleans.Get your low back stronger so it won’t be so shocked when doing these movements.

Don’t worry about the soreness; you are not accustomed to the movements as of yet and even when you become accustomed to the movements it is still going to be more strenuous then the average BB schedule. Tuesday was my first day working posterior chain in the am, quads in the pm and as of today I still have a difficult time walking; perhaps not difficult but slightly painful. Stairs are the bane of my existence after leg days.
