My 903 lb Benching Video

That is some sick strength. Let’s see Ryan do that.

Bro, if I give you fifty cents, will you go buy a sense of humor? Thanks.

208 and over 30% bodyfat…but you’re solid? See, now THAT"S funny.

wow…he BLASTS that weight up. How much of that is the shirt do you suppose?
This is a silly question, and you’ll understand how silly it is once you try a bench shirt. Ordinarily I’d explain why, but you’ve been posting here for over a year and you should know why.

Question I don’t know if this is good for me but I am a 15 yearold Freshman. Working out for 2 years I Currently Bench:245 Squat:300 and only Clean 175
I try to avoid doing squat and cleans as much as I can b/c i have a bad back and HORRIBLE FORM (thats why my max is low)(I screwed up my neck from football I got way to many stingers and now have a “reversal” in my neck where your neck bone is bent the opposite way in which its supposed to be and the chiropractor says thats why it bothers my middle back so it sometimes hurts to do squats and cleans). Im 5’9" and Weigh 208lbs and maybe about 28-32% body fat so im a big kid. But Im solid. Is that lifting good? And is there anything you guys might know of to improve my posture or to continue the lifts painless?( any suggestions on how to improve it)I Know from your guys point of view all that weight really sucks(especially cleans and squats) but what do you guys think?
You guys need to calm down a little, he’s fifteen and new to the forums; it’s not a surprise if he says some stupid things.

The neck thing I don’t know about, my only advice would be to find a chiropractor who lifts, I don’t know if you will be able to find one. Anyone on this board give this kid a hand? One thing I would do is find a powerlifter who knows his shit and get him to teach you proper squat form.

The bench is impressive for your age, although I doubt that you squat 300 to parallel (even if you think you do, you probably don’t, have someone who knows his shit watch you and they’ll tell you where parallel is; if you go to a typical gym almost no one squats to parallel so this might take a little searching).

One last piece of advice: what you said has nothing to do with this thread. Start a new post in the future if what you are saying is not relevant to the thread.

That’s an interesting way to spot bent-over rows.

Jesus christ that is one serious barbell curl :o

Although, I must question the position of the spotter.

My bad! I thought it was a brilliant way of saving time. The one guy gets to warm up his chest while his partner hits a hybrid upright row/curl set. At least he wasn’t in the squat rack.

That breakdance video was BADASS, on a serious note. I wish I could do that.

though i do not aspire to be that un-worldly big & strong, that is one of the most impressive things i have ever seen.
But, due to his size shouldn’t a 198lbr pushin 600+ be just as, if not more impressive?
Also, how many women would sleep with you if you were a jacked 300lbs as opposed to a jacked 200lbs?

5,476 women.

thats was rhetorical, but good enough if he can find them.

I guess you haven’t seen Ryan’s woman.

BTW, I eat 200 pound jacked guys for breakfast. Its powerlifting!!! Ryan’s bench is 2nd in the world. That means there is one guy out there who has benched more, and that is Gene Rychlak.

As far as pound for pound comparisons, they don’t work. Size verses strength is not a linear curve.

But yes, 600 at 198 is very impressive.

You guys have never heard of Ryan Kennelley? I was actually at this meet(Dec '04) and watched this lift from the head judge’s side. It was his 4th attempt. The place went nuts. Very impressive.

guys forgive me if im asking a stupid question but how many plates are on each side? isn’t it 45 lbs per disc? add them up and i dont get 900 lb, am i adding wrong? or are they not 45 lbs disc’s?

Those weights are in Kilos. I’m not sure if they are using a set with just 25 kilo disks or not, I haven’t looked at the video that closely.

There are no stupid questions, only inquisitive idiots.

They looked like 100’s. 4 hundred’s per side, plus whatever other plates they threw on, plus the bar, it should add up. Actually, there is no “should”. It adds up just fine, or someone’s got some explaining to do.

The normal load for 410kg would be

2*(3*50kg+25kg+15kg+2.5kg)+25 (bar and collars)=410kg=~903lbs

And that looks about like what I see in the video?

While Wilk’s formula isn?t totally applicable, it does give some idea of how amazing a lift Kennelly’s is…

272.5kg @ 90kg = 173.9 Wilks (600lb@200)
410 kg @ 140kg = 229.1 Wilks (Holy Cow!)

Our theoretical 200lb guy would need to bench near 800 to get a similar Wilks score.

Hahahha! That’s funny! But whoever that is looks better & is healthier than the other guy.
