Muscle Revolution

Anyone have “Muscle Revolution”

If so is anyone doign the year long program? From what I’ve read it is some of his programs (ABBH1-ABBH2-WM etc etc)combined In a certine order over a year.

I am probaly going to order this book soon. I have a stack of books so far and they all have decent info in them but I’d like ot get one book with everything and follow it.

My copy arrived at my doorstep this afternoon. From what I’ve heard, it does contain many of the programs listed on T-Nation and suggested orders of following them.

I’m not planning on using any of the workouts, but I wanted to read the book to see what information it contained and add it to my collection of training materials.

I’m actually using CT’s workouts since I’ve finally changed my focus from “athletic and strength training” to more of a bodybuilding approach.

Just read the article so Ive found my answears. Feel free to post your opinions/answears anyway.

I just orderd my copy and can not wait till it arrives.

As of now I am planning on following the year long program, doing what I can with the equipment I have.

From the reviews I’ve read I think I will make the best gains by following this book.

I have the book and have read it. There is a lot of quality info in it, even without any of the programs it is worth the price. He does a good job of being more indepth than your usual fitness book but not as indepth (boring) as a textbook. I would definitely try higher frequency training at some point, even for a month or two, to learn how your body responds to it.

Thanks for picking up a copy!

Just so everyone knows, Muscle Revolution is 10 chapters (300 pages) and only one of those chapters deals with my online programs. In other words, there’s much, much more information in the book - program design, neuroscience, nutrition, posture, energy systems training, etc. Plus my Total Strength Program is part of the book, and you can’t find that anywhere else.

So if anyone has been hesistant to pick up a copy, based on the notion that it’s a compilation of my T-Nation articles, you’ll be happy to know that it isn’t. Muscle Revolution stands apart from all my other stuff.

When I saw the post “muscle revolution”, knowing that it was Chad’s book, I had to come in here and give it a pitch.

Chad is one of the most intelligent people I have ever been in contact with. Knowing him personally only gives me more respect for his high level of knowledge (cause he really cares about what information he puts out…no fluff!!)

From a bodybuilding, athletic, health, fat loss, simple unadulterated interest in fitness, or really ANY persepctive, this is a book that anyone could benefit from…and that’s just a fact. It is so easy to take the principles Chad talks about and mold them to whatever your individual needs are.

I don’t know what to think about the fact that he offers it for such an incredible price. It is worth MUCH MUCH more than that, for sure.

Thanks, Chad…for the quality of your work.

Now there’s a quote I’ll be putting in my file. Thanks!

I have a copy of it, and incomparison to many other books, by all kinds of other authors (everything from Stuart McRoberts to Pavel, and everything in between) It is a fantastic book. And to go along with what was mentioned earlier: Dont sweat it being a re-hash of a bunch of stuff you can pick up out of articles. Its definitely not! There is a ton of good stuff in here.
It puts a whole lot of well researched science into practical, how-to type format.
The best book Ive ever got hold of!

I bought Muscle Revolution and it has definitely improved my approach to lifting

  1. Set/rep schemes - doing more 10x3 instead of being stuck in the 8-12 range

  2. More compound movements. Less isolation

  3. Focused more on total volume than weight. Always trying to increase volume from session to session on same exercise.

  4. Very few sets to failure. Used to do this on almost evey set and I think it has limited my growth

  5. started keeping WO log. Definitely helps.

  6. Still confused about overtraining. I can never tell when I need to take a break or deload, I just listen to my body.

  7. Any time you feel like your getting stale or bored, just pick up the book and pick put a new routine

On the downside, I need a calcualtor sometimes to plan my workout

I’m sure I don’t follow the book exactly, but there is so much inforamtion in there that if you follow the basic appraoch you will be satisfied.

BUY IT.

Yes, I began my year long series of programs using “Muscle Revolution” a few weeks ago. He offers several possibilities according to what your goals are. Mine are strength and aesthetics.
Some good stuff in the book. I especially like the bit on cardio.

Muscle Revolution is the single best lifting book i have ever bought, its definitely the best thing i have ever spent my money on to help me in the gym and my overall physique…better than any supplement, and has plenty of workouts in it that WORK! if it was a supplement, id buy a lifetime supply! get your hands on it, and gains will come without a doubt

Also, don’t forget that there are pictures of Angela (lovethislife) in the book demonstrating some of the exercises!

It’s almost worth picking up a copy just to see a T-Nation forum member showing different exercises!

I haven’t had a chance to read my copy yet (I only browsed through the chapters) because I have been enthralled by Dr. Darden’s new book. I’ve never used H.I.T. or been an advocate for it, but this book is one of the best I’ve ever purchased! The history, photographs and information is outstanding. And the clarification about what H.I.T. is really about was most needed.

Anyway, I’ll write a review on Dr. Darden’s book once I finish it, and then I’ll post a review of Chad’s book too. The only negative to Chad’s book is that there is a lot of text and not as many photos to help break things up. Otherwise, it is fairly easy to read and follow and contains a plethora of information (from what I’ve skimmed through so far).

I bought the book when it came out because I have always had success from Chad’s articles. I agree the book has much more information than presented on T-Nation and has been a great guide for me regarding nutrition, cardio, lifting, etc. I am transitioning phases right now and this book is helping guide me through.

I just received the book in the mail, I’m up to chapter 5 and very, very impressed, Chad Waterbury, and you ARE a genius.

I do have a question thou, I’m unsure of what goal to choose. At first it was the increase muscle mass and lose fat. Now I am considering the strength and muscle mass choice.
I am 180lbs at 5’5". I would have a decent build at 160-165. What I am considering is doing the routines in the increase strength/muscle mass goal and than trying the V-diet.

Also I ordered Power Drive to try it out, the container is just above half full is that normal or is it a mix-up?

Again, Thank you for a great book. I have great faith that I will finally obtain the goals I have set for myself with the help of “Muscle Revolution”.

Based on your post, you should focus on fat loss. So you can either follow my fat loss plan, or do the V-diet. But be sure your training coincides with the parameters that I outlined for fat loss.

Ok So I’ll follow the year long program for fat loss and muscle mass.
I am going to folow the routines outlined in the book exaclty as written, My biggest mistake when I started lifting was doing too much, I’ve learned from that.

Thanks for the reply.

I love the book. I have been writing my own programs for years and have been primarily focused on strength but have known that I’d have more strength if I had more muscle mass. I’ve been saying for 3 years now that I’ll start focusing on muscle mass but have been putting it off.

Now I’m following Chad’s training for hypertrophy for one full year. I’m looking forward to the pressure being off of me as far as what to do in the gym. I just started this week in fact and I’m having a blast so far.

If you read through Chad’s articles and through his book and the way that he answers questions you will see that he is not only a phenominal trainer but he is an all around great guy. That more than anything is why I bought his book, it pays to be courteous, and to give credit to those whome one has learned from.
