^^ So does that mean you don’t think I should try sumo? heh…
Give it a shot, maybe sumo will work better for you.
Alrighty!
Important announcement, my cyber warriors:
I have decided next cycle I am switching over to sumo deadlifts.
I know Jim Wendler is a conventional guy, but my mind really needs a break from all this post deadlifting misery I’ve endured with my confusion over form.
As of right now, I have no idea if my sumo is perfect, or how much my max is. It’s a fresh start, and we’ll see what happens.
I watched a really good video of dave tate explaining it, and it seems very simple.
SO, I’LL GIVER A GO!
Anyway, today was an awesome workout
5/3/1 Military press day
55 x 5
65 x 3
70 x 5 ← 5 for my one seems so perfect to me. I don’t think I would have even wanted 6, 5 is plenty…5 is plenty indeed.
75 x 1
5 sets of 5 pull ups inbetween that there pressin’.
BBB Benching
85 x 10
85 x 10
85 x 10
85 x 10
85 x 10
pausing first and last rep
This was easy peasy, next cycle will go up to 90, me thinks.
One arm NG DB press
30 x 8
30 x 8
30 x 8
30 x 10
Maybe go up next cycle for this as well? Perhaps for a few sets anyway…
umm Rear delty stuff, bicep drop set stuff, standing cable abs stuff
DONE
Time for a few days of takin’ err easy and then back at it!
Life news:
I did not realize there was more than one type of mammoth. I thought it was just the wooly mammoth. So actually my favourite extinct animal is the columbian mammoth, not the wooly.
I like them better for some reason. They seem taller, or something.
YUP, BYE!
I like doing deficit sumo deads for my BBB part of 5/3/1. The fun part about sumos is it really improves your strength from the bottom. If you can get it off the floor, you’ll probably be able to lock it out. If it gets stuck anywhere, it’ll be right at the beginning. It’s also more back friendly than the conventional deadlift.
Maybe take a day to see what your max actually is for sumos before you just throw a number out there. It’ll help you out, since it’s a completely different movement using completely different muscles. A 200+ conventional DL does NOT equal a 200+ sumo.
Good pressing ![]()
Spockalock!
I see the belt got busted out, yeehaw!
Kouba posted an EFS article about pulling sumo v conventional regarding limb length, I’ll see if I can dig it up and post it for you. But like Dixie said in my log, no reason not to do both. What I’m trying to say is, I support your decision. ![]()

I have it bookmarked. Sorry Lula if I stepped on your foot.
This is just a guide. With what I’ve done with couple people at Gold’s, I look for weaknesses, and make them do the one that will benefit them the most first. Guinea pig’d the idea with myself first, and worked. So far seems to be working with the 2 others, as their numbers are going up. Just watching your videos, a couple of cycles of sumo would do you well.
Awesome pressing as usual. You need more videos… Keep it up!
nope, i was hoping/figured you’d be johnny on the spot with it. ![]()
Spockie! I found you!

Rocket launchers in the temple, sniper rifles in the complex, and proximity mines in the facility.
THAT’S HOW YA PLAY, MAN! :)
I have to chime in on this log to inform you that you are naming goldeneye maps while talking about PD.
You haven’t mastered PD until you’ve played magnums against the badass level NPCs.
Oh, um… something about lifting.
Ah you’re hiding over here now too.

Scj119 - Noob to old school shooters haha. The best part about the “classics” in Perfect Dark was that you no longer had to do that stupidly infuriating trick to get up into the bathroom ventilation ducts on the Facility.
Damn, I need to find an operational N64 now.
VT appears to be guzzelling that haterade.

Maybe you or someone else can help me with something. What is the difference between arch back good mornings and regular good mornings? They are part of my Coan-Phillipi circuit and I just don’t see the difference. I tend to arch hard with good mornings all the time. Can someone fill me in?
^^ Ouro: I DUNNO. For me I just really think about being archy when i do the arch back good mornings VS the regular ones where I don’t think about being archy, HA-HA! I am sure that is the technical description for them…
Okay everyone, I have some news. Hopefully I can make this as UNBabbly as possible.
I was thinking before bed last night how much my workout routine gives me anxiety.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I love 5/3/1 with all my heart, but I am a crazy high-strung person and sometimes the anticipation of everything makes my mind go crazy. I am either dreading my deload and unable to sleep, or worrying about my deadlift and unable to sleep, OR wondering if I will get my favourite squat rack, once again causing me to be un able to sleep.
I am tired of fucking REPPING SHIT all the time. I just want to go in there, do some heavy lifting, do whatever else I feel like, come home, feel awesome, and not know to a certaintity what I HAVE to do the next day.
FREEDOM, I NEEDS IT!
So this morning I woke up being like FUCK, I don’t want to take today off, I feel flipping fantastic. WHY do I have to take today off?! WHY CAN’T I DO WHAT I WANNNNNNNNNA?
For now my program will still be the 4 “big lifts” (I count military press cause I loves it), working in the 3-5 rep range, not going too close to my max, and doing what I can for that specific day.
Deadlifts will be singles because I think repping deadlifts is not helping me AT ALL. I read an article dave tate wrote on here where he mentioned the deadlift was not meant for reps.
I love dave tate.
So without further adue, today’s super awesome perfect workout was:
Squatting
135 x 5
145 x 3
145 x 3
150 x 5
155 x 3
135 x 5
Good numbers, getting 5 for something I only got once a week ago makes me happy pappy.
Some deadlifting singles
Now, I was going to go sumo, but then I realized, WTF JENN? You are finally getting close to understanding this form thingie, so keep plugging away. DO. NOT. QUIT. You will get it!
165 x 1
165 x 1
175 x 1
185 x 1
195 x 1 ← Okay, now this was beltless, somewhat speedy, and no problemo. Last week my 200lber felt awful. Me thinks I am really starting to get the hang of things(I know I say that way too often). Or my glutes are finally starting to wake up and realize I want to use them to deadlift!!!
back hyper extension thingies 10lbs plate behind head
4 x 8
leg extensions for some weight
4 x 8
50 rep facepulls
ab wheel roll outs
1 x 30
and 5 feeble attempts at standing ab wheel roll outs
So awesome, felt strong/happy today.
EVEN WITH A BIG PIMPLE ON MY FACE I MIGHT ADD. That usually makes me grumpy.
Life news:
uhh
Spock I pretty much will approve of anything that makes you happy ![]()
I too can think a day when you feel great and ready and are supposed to rest can be a wasted training day… allth esame you’re smart enough to listen to your body.
AND WORD!!! WAy to stick to the conventional!!! deadzos!!!
I like what you are doing. Here is a tip that Wendler, among other big time powerlifters have stated, and I as well have done. Write down a set of rules. Like the 10 commandments, but actually legit. That way if you ever hit a bump in the road, or look at them once a month, and see if you are staying true to yourself. Good luck.
YAY I am so glad you guys approve! I was worried people would be mad at me, Lol. I seem to worry about that a lot for no reason, hmm…
Anyway, another wonderful day in the world of “listen to your body” lifting!:
Benching
86 x 6
95 x 3
105 x 3
105 x 3 ← All paused
105 x 5 ← All paused
100 x 5 ← ALL PAUSED
Glose grip benchin’
85 x 9
85 x 9
85 x 9
Will go for 90lbs next week maybe
5 sets of 6 NG pull ups inbetween random sets
Military press
65 x 5 ← Felt semi hard
60 x 5
60 x 5 ← Felt way better so went back up to 65
65 x 5
65 x 5
55 x 8
Hanging leg raises inbetween MP sets
3 x 15
Bent over row
65 x 8
70 x 8
75 x 6
80 x 6
MUST GET BETTER AT THIS. STAT!
Random non-stop tricepy reppy shit.
DONE/AwESOME

I don’t blame you for not loving the structure of some training. I find it very boooooring peaking for a meet for the same reason. I find I lose a bit of motivation.
