Mr. Hammond, the phones are working...

I thank you all for keeping my log interesting for me to read while I am on deload.

I searched my photo folder for interesting, and the closest thing I had saved was titled “intriguing,” so this is what I got.

It looks like I misunderstood BBB. I thought it was 5 sets with the same main lift you did that day. The opposite lift could fit in very well with my plan. (Hi spock!)

No, You are correct. It is usually the same ex. used as the main lift. I think the 2nd edition says you can alter that. I’ve always done the same BBB as the main lift.

Well Hello there. That’s some great pressing!

I thought that variation was written in the first book, no? I’ve never even read the other book… HMM maybe I made it up myself, ha!
Or maybe I just saw it on some Wendler Q and A thingie.

This way works better for me because I don’t have enough attention span to spend THAT much time squatting in one session without getting bored. I also feel hitting these main lifts for different rep scheme’s more than once a week will help me get strONGERRRR.

spock, I couldn’t agree more from my experience. Hitting the same lift twice at different weights and reps seems to work well for me. This is a good log!

Hi there, thanks for saying hi over in my log.

I think the beauty of 5/3/1 is that there are a lot of variations for the accessory stuff. You can do the BBB sets with the same weight or you can pyramid down if you want. I used to do that with my deadlifts and really liked it. It also adds some variety. I’m not a huge fan of using the same weight for all of my sets after trying out the HP Mass program. Now I’ll always vary the weight from set to set.

I like being active on my deload too. I’ve heard people skipping the deload entirely but if you’re really, really pushing yourself on those last AMAP sets then three weeks is plenty of work.

james

^Hmmm you got me thinkin now James. Maybe I’ll try the pyramid next cycle.

James: That sounds like a really interesting idea. You start at typically what %% of your max when you pyramid down like that? Do you start out a little heavier than strict BBB sets?

OKAY WARNING EMOTIONS BEING EXPRESSED AHEAD:

I just cannot even begin to tell ya’ll how happy having a log here makes me, seriously.
I have lurked this site for years YEARS, and I always wanted so badly to be posting along with everyone else. I was creeping Brute before I even had registered an account and was just in disbelief that she could squat 2 plates, ON EACH SIDE!! MIND BLOWN.

And all these big ass strong dudes who train like total beasts would just inspire me completely, and now they POST IN MY LOG. MY VERY OWN LIL LOG. I can’t friggen believe it, man.
And for anyone to say that my log is informative or helpful in anyway just makes me heart feel so warm and fuzzy inside.

So ya, I am smitten with this website, apparently, ha.

I am just gonna post here forever and ever and maybe someday I’ll be insanely crazy strong and I can inspire someone else who’s still too chicken shit to start their own log.

OKAY FEELING TALK ENDED.

BYE

** E hug!!**

You are the cutest. Never change!

Brute amazes me too.

I’m not doing this now because I’m doing a variation of the full body template. But, when I was doing this I really went by feel. Typically I would either use the weight that I just used for my last AMAP set or take off one of the plates (whatever that ended up being) and get as many reps as I could from it. Then drop the weight and do the same. It’s just another way to get the volume in.

james

i love your emotions segment, and i’ll second them.

you are just the cutest. you know that, right?

and also, you were in my dream last night. I’m not sure what we were doing, but i’m pretty sure we kicked lots of ass.
