Nihilist ? Fuck me… Are these men Nazis, Walter ?
Like others have already posted above, I think that discipline comes before motivation. Considering you have done this for a long time and got stage ready before, you already know about discipline and you know how to achieve your goals.
For me its not really about discipline, its just about planning and carrying out the plan.
1 Have a detailed training plan (program), what sessions are you doing in what days.
2 Look at what other commitments you have and decide if the plan you have made fits in with those. For me I have to consider all the kids and wife’s after school activities so I can build a plan that is achievable and wont conflict with something else. This way I have less excuses.
3 If the plan doesn’t fit, change it. There is no point having a plan if you know you wont be able to meet it. There are so many ways to train and achieve your goal that making a plan fit your life should not be hard.
4 Have a back up plan, sometimes life gets in the way, late meeting at work or wife needs you to have the kids. Have an option to move that training to another time.
5 Have your plan written down and fill out your training log for every session.
6 Review and change the plan as things change in your life.
All of this creates a training habit which once you have, you wont need motivation because you will just do it. Not many people get real motivated to go to work but we get out of bed and go everyday anyway. We dont need motivation to clean out teeth or get dressed but we do it anyway. Make training something that you just do without any real thought and you wont need an external motivation.
If this fails then read what @flatsfarmer wrote about training when the hot chicks are there.
Avoiding starvation motivates me to get to work lol
I nearly missed my planned session but told myself what @strongmangoals said to, “Today, I had the opportunity to get closer to (your goal here). I decided that I’d rather stay home and miss that opportunity instead”.
Fuck… how do I stay home and be lazy after that haha ![]()
And quite naturally, I’m glad I went to make progress and just felt better after getting it done.
