Had a great debate with my friends the other night, while i think in theory that the president is the most powerful person, i would say in reality alan greenspan holds the most power, he controls the economy which directly affects everyone, he also outlasted george bush sr. and clinton, and he’s still here today, and the thing that gets me is that we didn’t get to elect him…what is everyone’s opinion.
exactly right…greenspan. waaaaay too much power for one guy. kevo
What about Colin Powell? On CNN they were talking about how Bush has no experience & that when Powell, Rice, Bush, Rumsfeld, etc all get together, it’s Powell who does most of the talking. My brother said he saw in an issue of Time or something that Bush is only the 5th most powerful person in Washington.
Ditto Greenspan. No one else has the power to affect people’s daily lives with one phone call like Alan has. Kinda scary.
Yes, Greenspan but not to worry, he can be put out too if he fucks up and pisses congress off. LL
I would say that probably ed coan has the most power.
In order to answer this question one must define “power.” If your definition relates to job-oriented potential to affect people, then it’s either the President (I enjoyed my $600) or Greenspan. If your definition relates to an individual’s ability to affect others, regardless of any positional authority, I think wealth equates to power. I’ve heard that Bill Gates has liquid assets in excess of $50 billion. If he had the desire, that amount of money could easily land a man or woman on Mars, begin humankind’s thrust into deep space, or even finance a very well equipped private army to pursue his personal agenda. All of these things have the potential to affect the whole of humanity in a way that no other person in the USA could hope to accomplish. Just my two cents.
bill gates? that’s an interesting one, didn’t clinton try to break up his monopoly? here’s my order.
1)greenspan and federal reserve
2)international bankers
3)those bastards on wall street
4)major corporations like general electric, standard oil and rockerfeller
5) and then the president,if he has balls he can be higher, but usually he dosen’t…it seems to me that no matter republican or democrat the bankers, corporations, wall street, and federal reserve always win out because they have the money
I think it is Howard Stern
greenspan can be removed though, should the urge arise.
Its Superman. He can fly and stuff.
I would still say the prez 'cause he can press the button. I believe no one else has that power to vaporize the whole human race, not greenspan, not colin powell, not bill gates.
im gunna have to go with chris sughart
The man with the most powerful funk is here in Europe, I met him today.
