Most BodyBuilders Look Like Crap

Look at Indiana Jones. He wasnt out there doing open heart surgeries but he was still Doctor Jones.

My pop was a sociology professor, and signed things AS “Dr.” If asked, he would clarify that he had an educational doctorate, not medical.

You are full of shit. I said WHICH ONES HAVE 2-3 YEAR PROGRAMS. Not one dental school I know of in North America has a program like that for a DDS so if they are out there, it should be easy to find.

I just posted UT’s course schedule, including every class I ever took from pharmacology to medical diagnosis to gross anatomy.

It is cute that you try so hard to degrade me or what I do, but it just doesn’t fly if it just isn’t true.
And I already wrote, at least one in Arizona. By the law of averages I’m sure there’s more. Dude, I don’t try to degrade you or what you do. You aren’t that bright.

There is only one dental school in Arizona…the Arizona School of Dentistry and Health. They ahve this to say:
Upon completion of the four-year program, graduates receive a doctor of dental medicine (D.M.D.) and a certificate in public health management.

Stop being dumb.

I know it hurts. Don’t hate.

No, I am quite bright. My buddy went to ASU. Not sure where he transferred to after. You’re a doctor of dentistry. Calling yourself “doctor” and bragging about your knowledge of the body is pretty misleading taking into account that your area of “expertise” is confined to the mouth, especially considering you feel the need to throw the title around at every available oppertunity. We get it doc.

IT WAS ME WHO STARTED THIS 250lb’s SHIT.

It came from an article in MILO years back and was written by Dr Ken Leistner. Accomplished chiropractor who has competed in olympic and powerlifting competitions, squatted over 400LB’s for 20 reps and bench pressed over 400LB’s and dead lifted over 600LB’s. He has strength coached football teams and lifters and owned the ‘Iron Island’ gym in Long Island for many years before he sold it, he also had his own publication the ‘steel tip’ and has numerous articles published and is a regular contributor to MILO. He is qualified to make the statement.

Of course there are healthy big guys, jesus-look at those Maori boys-their all fucking HUUUUGE, and are probably fighting fit to boot.
I just personally believe that it is best to err on the side of caution with your health and it seems prudent for many people, barring the exceptions of course, who seem to be the minority NOT the majority who can maintain good blood work numbers and levels of CV-is to focus on CV, health and a good diet, and hover under the 250LB mark to minimize strain on the CV system and promote general health and overall well-being. IF you can do this >250LB’s then more power to you.

What he actually wrote was “… It’s hard to argue that being over 250LB’s is healthy, irrespective of body-weight… because of the extra strain placed upon the cardiovascular system…”

Interpret that as you will.
There is something like a 50% incidence of type 2 diabetes in obese maoris–and a whole heap of them are in that state–not big.n.hard–just big and soft.

Bragging? How many times in this thread did BG mention my profession in some off hand remark before I responded?

You are childish with this…and I am sure more people are paying attention now than were before.

Keep it up.

My mentor was Dr. Debakey. I have been going on rounds in hospitals since I was 15 years old. Even with my formal training for my DDS, I still have a wider background than most. \

Insulting what I do as if someone who treats patients with heart defects can’t speak on heart ailments make zero sense.

This thread could have schooled some people.

Instead, they got you.

He couldn’t have mentioned it anymore than you normally would. They got me? What does that even mean? All this thread has shown is a bunch of insecure bigger guys who happen to be in their 30’s [or older] bragging about who looks better with their shirts off and arguing about the effects of excess bodyweight at an older age with basiclly ZERO empirical evidence to support a logical conclusion either way.

Wrong. All this thread is was a decent discussion turned to shit because of the exact same bullshit most of you have been pulling for months now.

BG attacked every single person who disagreed with him. I am not sure he even knows what “strawman” means.

Then, you and others decided to make this an issue about who can or can’t call themselves a bodybuilder.

People even posted pictures of really built old people while a DDS who treats medically compromised people stated that anyone making some arbitrary line in the sand about weight should stop giving medical advice.

Yeah, I think that about sums it up.

let clear some stuff up about this dentist/doctor dumb-ass debate.

some dentist ARE doctors, that is, if they are also ORAL SURGEONS.

get it? oral surgeons are dentist, only some dentist are oral surgeons.

what X is unknown to me, I dont work with the guy and dont know what his training involved. It depends on the type of school he went to and his residency.

real life example and case in point.

people with abscessed teeth are a fairly common in my ED, most can be treated with antibiotics and buy the patient some time until they see a qualified dentist. sometimes the abscess is so severe, it constitutes a surgical emergency, and a qualified ORAL SURGEON has to be called in.

trust me, not every slap dick dentist who cleans and x rays your teeth is qualified to come in and preform emergency oral surgery. we have a very small list to choose from, trust me.

even the ones who are, I would not let treat a common cold or anything else outside the gums and teeth, cuz they do not know what the fuck they are doing.

we often get a consult form an internist when they admit a patient for oral surgery from the ED to the hospital because they have no clue how to manage ABX therapy post surgery(especially if the abscess has spread to an cellulitis of the face or neck, or a osteomyolitis of the jaw)

they have NO IDEA how to manage many of the underlying co morbidities and medication regimens we see in our patient population, like diabetes, htn, renal insufficiency, CAD, blah-blah.

hope that settles this.

Well, you thought wrong. There was no decent discussion. There was a bunch of whining by really large, insecure “men” who legitimately feel the need to prove their respective “superiority” to other randoms on the internet. Solid gold my friend. Solid. Gold.

One thing I find interesting is that it’s never the guys with medical backgrounds that say “You’re just a dentist”. It’s the other guys.

Haterz gonna hate.

here ya go…this will prove (to me at least) if X is a typical dentist or a qualified oral surgeon.

X, answer this question real fast, (less than one minute, dont want you to have time to rifle over to “UP to Date” or a Pharmacopeia.

pt presents to ed with obvious abscessed tooth. facial and neck swelling on affected side, with discoloration and warmth, severe pain, fever of 38.3, slightly tachacardic (110 nsr) but other wise normal vital signs. pt is very uncomfortable, not having swallowing difficulty or airway problems at this time, and not rigorous.

CAT scan will not be available for quite some time (hours) do to the triple level one trauma activation that just got called and the suspected brain attack that just came in by ambulance.

quick! what ABX therapy do you order right now while waiting for the scanner to clear, or if you are really ballsy, for the surgical team to get OR ready?

You serious with this? I just walked back in the office.

If a patient arrives with swelling, severe pain, no airway obstruction and a fever, I don’t need to order anything but antibiotics and pain meds.

If my posts on this board over the last ten years haven’t proven I have a clue, nothing will, dude.

It’s lupus.

Yessir. Posted on the 2nd or 3rd page. Obviously the “no decent discussion” jab was just that, a jab. But, my point remains. There’s been way more booty chatter than legitimate discussion.
