I love eating natural pb on whole wheat bread or bagels. Do you think if one had this for breakfast on a lower carb diet ( less than 100g daily) that it would be less likely to contribute to fat gain because it’s the first meal of the day?
umm…no
unless it was your cheat meal and you ate it once a week is one thing…but if you ate it everyday for breakfast, you’re not going to make progress in the body composition department…
May not be statistically optimal by every fatc we are all loaded with by the top members of the training and nutrition world. But I dont see a thing wrong with it. Both are good foods for the most part if you are taking the time to get a GOOD bread with plenty of fiber and such. REAL whole wheat.
To a point it still burns down to daily k/cal in to k/cal out. By using a bread high in fiber and WHOLE grain iot will lower the GI/II and you will be fine. Enjoy it from time to time. Add a solid protein source to make it a meal and see how you react.
I bet even Dr’s JB and LL can be found having a good ole PB sandwhich from time to time.
Hope that helps ease some of your mental anguish,
Phill

You will most likely have a hard time maintaining the low carbs with a bagel.
Bagels are very high in carbs unless you are using the low carb kind.
Have you ever tried PB on an apple? It rocks.
As Dr. JB said himself I believe, massive eating principles of splitting carbs and fat are not dogma. It’s a smart way to eat, but just because a meal contains carbs and fat doesn’t necessarily make it “bad”. If you choose the right type of bread as Phill suggests, you will be fine.
You could train in the morning and have the bagel and PB as part of your anabolic meal about an hour after your PW drink
