MORE Star Wars???????

I’m a huge Star Wars fan and all that, but REALLY??? George Lucas sold Lucasfilm, Ltd. for $4.05 billion and now motherfucking DISNEY is going to make Episodes 7, 8, 9? And then they plan on releasing another Star Wars film every few years, like James Bond or some shit.

George Lucas is the king of milking something for all it’s worth and then some. Whaddya guys think? Is there ANY way at all that these films will have any redeeming features? I thought Revenge of the Sith had its moments, but other than that Lucas has fucked up every single second of every single Star Wars film starting about halfway through Return of the Jedi when those goddamned Ewoks showed up.

They should have raped Leia, that little fucking tart.

I’m expecting more Jar Jar-like stuff.

Thanks for the post, I hadn’t heard of this.

I am a fan of Star Wars. I think Lucas created this story, and it’s incredible. I would think that Disney and Lucas probably had many conversations on what would happen if Lucas was to sell it to them. I would think Lucas(the creater) is comfortable with what Disney had planned before he sold it, and I am sure he doesnt want to see his creation be turned to shit. So, I think it will probably be awesome. At the very least I hope it is.

Disney won’t necessarily make them all kiddy movies. I have a feeling the new movies will have an Avngers-feel…and my dream is that in 10 years we’ll get a REBOOT OF THE PREQUELS!

I mean that.

Seems like a mess, “When You Wish Upon a Death Star” and “Bambi Wan Kenobi.” -might be more than just a joke. Also looks like Indiana Jones 5 is on the table.

I have a buddy that works for Lucasfilm and now I understand his status update on facebook from yesterday where he hinted at this by sayin “October’s been a good month so far with my first wedding anniversary…and it’s not over yet!”

A sad, sad day for (pop) culture.

More pointless reboots and needless franchise-wallowing.

@mbdix
the more you read about Lucas, the more it gets clearer he actually did very little.
He was a catalyst, for sure, in bringing the right people together and stealing the right material.
But foremost he was very lucky.

Am I the only one who thinks that getting Lucas hands off Star Wars and getting it into the hands of trained professionels is actually a good thing?

I am still appalled that anyone could make me hate a movie with Natalie Portman in it.

Apparently Lucas had the basic framework of the next three films in early development before he sold Lucasfilm to Disney. I guess they’re going to go with those, or something close to them, for these three films, the first of which is slated for 2015.

I also think it’s going to be more of this Jar Jar Binks Bullshit than more Vader-like sinister characters. I mean, the Sith are all gone now, right? Vader was the last of them once the Emperor took a long fall off a short plank. I know Lucas has zero integrity and hasn’t had any for a long time now, but is he really so low as to create some secret apprentice of the Emperor’s that no one but him ever knew about and is now out to destroy the people who destroyed the Empire?

The story is supposedly set after Return of the Jedi and will feature Luke and Leia and Han and all the other usual suspects. I wonder if any of the original actors will be involved.

I would surmise that the films will revolve around some story where Han and Leia have kids, like a lot of the books that came about out about them in the early to mid 90’s, and then the kids go on to be Jedis. Luke will be their Yoda/Obi Wan figure and they’ll fight some evil entity.

I hope whatever it is it isn’t as convoluted a plot as the last three seemed to feature at times. All the Senate/Republic/Separatist shit was a little more than the plot needed, in my opinion. I know the whole Rebel Alliance/Empire thing is pretty central to the original three, but it seemed a little overboard in the new ones.

He hasn’t relinquished that much control of things from what I gather. He came up with the basic storyline for all three prior to selling out (again). So Disney is going to stick with that basic plot.

He’s still serving as creative consultant for all future films. I don’t know how much input he’ll have, but I suspect that it will be significant nonetheless. Disney would never do it, but I think something with a feel and look to it like 2001: A Space Odyssey would be better than the oversaturation of CGI that is undoubtedly going to victimize these films.

I don’t know what the fuck is going to come of these films but I have a feeling it isn’t going to be good at all.

Holy Shit! I just thought of a possible scenario in which these films could possibly turn out to be good, although I think it couldn’t happen until after this new trilogy is completed first. So, for Episode X (fuck, that sounds ridiculous) how about this:

CHRISTOPHER NOLAN DIRECTS THE NEXT STAR WARS TRILOGY AND IT ACTUALLY KICKS SOME FUCKING ASS FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE THE END OF EMPIRE STRIKES BACK!!!

Think of the possibilities if Nolan were to get his hands on that franchise somehow. I know he likes complete autonomy over the direction of his films, but if there’s one director that even Disney would give that much latitude to, it would have to be Nolan. I think the only other director who could ever take the franchise in a fresh new direction while remaining true to the best aspects of it is Stanley Kubrick. And he’s fucking dead, so it’s Nolan or perish for Star Wars as far as I’m concerned.

Making 7,8,9 not the way to go. I’ve always wanted a tv series (no not clone wars) set in a completley different timeframe similar to Knight of the Old Republic video game. It could have endless plot twists with knights goin to the dark side etc.

It could work as long as they promise to nuke shia labeouf this time. Not to mention…

So Luke Skywalker gets a big head, and turns and starts his own evil empire.

Its funny all the shit Lucas gets from fanboys, considering its the universe he created…

After reading your post, it jogged some memory I have about this. But cant recall what it was. Maybe on hbo or something? I’ll have to look for some materal on this.

YES! THAT would be a really good storyline. Luke turns to the Dark Side after years of built-up jealousy toward his far more powerful niece and nephew, or some shit like that.

And then Luke (now Darth Bane) goes on a rampage and kills Han and Lando, then confronts Leia, who is then saved by her children while Darth Bane escapes to some far-off planet.

Instead of trying to turn Darth Bane back to the good side, the remaining Jedis or whatever go after Darth Bane and it turns into a full-fledged bloodbath, like what Darth Vader’s reign must have been like between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Or perhaps the children go into hiding while Darth Bane goes after them instead.

Yeah, kind of like Vader searching for Skywalker all over the galaxy and killing everyone in his path between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. That fucking asshole Lucas likes to use parallel storylines between characters, especially Luke and Anakin Skywalker. Why not turn Luke into some newer, more ruthless version of Vader hunting down his Jedi niece and nephew after killing Han Solo, sort of like when Vader kills Obi Wan?

Whatever the story line is, the movies will suck balls.
