Momentum and Inertia

Maybe as a spectator. I haven’t practiced any sort of snatch or C&J at all for months. But next year I might enter if they have it again.

Oh, I completely understand. I buy certain items for that reason.

Already looking forward to the video featuring the new shoes.

nice work…

the 54321 money set - feels great while tearing it up
but it left me too torn up.

I have to agree with Carl

adding bumpers and lifting shoes can only enhance the shorts over sweats look.

all teasing aside good work as usual[/quote]

Thanks Kmac. Always nice to hear from you, 'specially with y’all being busy with the new human in your house and stuff.

2010-9-28 conditioning and general farting around

Overhead squats
115x2,2,2
135x2,2

Snatches
115x3,3,3
135x3,3,3
155 1x5 sets

C&J
185 3x1

My pulls are better but I’m still not getting under and down. Even my splits were minimal. Wish my bumpers would get here.

10 mins Stairmaster @ level 7 - 42 floors
3 mins jump rope with copious breaks for gasping

I am as aerobic as a crocodile.

I’ll tell you what, I’ll trade you some of this worthless aerobic capacity for some strength.

Those clean and jerks are strong work Tony.

i’ve stopped going all out on the last working set on 5/3/1 and added in 1 to 2 sets of singles. the “working sets” with the required reps are much like a prolonged warmup for me. as a result, my form is the best it’s ever been and all of my lifts are improving.

This makes tremendous sense to me and is a great modification for those who compete and need to train the heavy singles.

That does make sense. I’ll likely start doing that after cycle 3 and changing the assistance work as well to lower the volume. I want to work with the system unadulterated right now so I can gauge the effects accurately.

BB Curls

Scap Crap
High and low band pullaparts (choked 1/4 way in)
Mini 15x2 sets, high and low

No single rep was too hard, but the workload has been adding up over the last 3 “weeks” and I can use that deload. Top weight on squats felt heavier than it has in the past, which I attribute to the facts that I

  1. condensed the workload in the 1st week, and
2)boosted BBB squat weights each week by 10 lbs.

My original plan was to boost it by 10lbs PER MONTH. I’ll be adhering to that next cycle.

go light on the accessories. think of using them to flush blood into the area you just worked. and as jim says, you don’t need to chase maxes every session.

According to Pendlay (I asked in his thread), Jon North will be competing in the 94 kg class, and likely to attempt a 160 kg snatch.

Barring unforseen circumstances, I definitely plan to spectate.

And maybe I didn’t understand the level of competition…

New weightlifting shoes came last night.

Been popping some snatches and overhead squats in the garage today and I gotta say, the shoes make a world of difference. The solid raised heel is making me really stable and making it possible for me to overhead squat at all.

working the kinks out.

Snazzy shoes on

Snatch to Overhead Squat
115x2,1,1,1

Snatch
115 1x10sets
135 1x10 sets

Clean and Jerk
165 1x10 sets

Press
135 5x2

Think I’ll do this during the deload week. It’s fun, not demanding and I can work technique. I’m going to enter the virtualmeet weightlifting comp in Nov.

We wanna see a pic of you looking all pretty in your new magic squatting shoes.

Well, looks like I’ll be getting a new camera soon, anyways, for the november meet…

looking forward to see the shoes and lifts

is it november yet?

N., its not November yet. Maybe he’ll let loose with some practice vids before the meet. If we ask nicely and say pretty please.

Hey Tony, you’re going to be lifting in SPF right?

135# snatch… thats damn sweet, snazzy shoes or not…
