Thanks.

15 more pounds 'til bodyweight snatch.

…leave it alone, Kimba.

sorry for the ā€œfrench momentā€ but what does the wooly ears mean and/or stand for? I’m just thinking that you’re complaining about hairy ears at the moment but I’m sure I’m not getting a reference.

thanks for educamating de frenchies.

Tony, the work here is looking simply awesome. I am hoping to start my oly lifting in the next week or two, and watching you get better is helping me to think that I might do it.

Me too. Great minds think alike.

You are correct in your supposition, mon cher.

Thanks, mj. Carl’s my inspiration. I’m his new stalker.

A bodyweight snatch would be mighty impressive.

And well done for doing your own ART ā€œwhileā€ lifting, an extremely efficient use of training time.

I’m looking at BW snatch as a starting point, as what one should be able to do at a minimum. I want to be able to do 5 good ones in a row.

Then I’ll run for president of the world.

Snatch Squat Holds
(Snatch, sink to overhead squat and hold for slow 10 count)
bar x 1
75x1
85x1
95x1
105x1
115x1
125x0,1 (baseline PR)

This is all I could think of to strengthen the shoulders so I could support weight at the bottom of the snatch. My real snatches don’t go back far enough due to this weakness so it won’t get strengthened that way. There’s no exercise besides OHS and snatch-under’s that I have equipment for and I hate OHS because I suck at them. Yes, I should probably do them and I will as soon as I can support 135 in this exercise.

Good work Tony, your a brave man as well. Theres no way I’d put up a shirtless video

Nice - would your shoulder work with behind-the-neck presses? Seems like that exercise would help.

They might, but the external rotation is so extreme on a snatch, that I wouldn’t want to try to replicate that with BHNP’s. They might induce enough stretch to make it worthwhile though.

The squat-snatch-hold looks like it will do exactly what you want it to do. Greg Everret has some good plans for jerk blocks if you have the time to make them:

Besides what you are already doing, the only thing I can think of to help with stability on the snatch is to mess around with your grip. Narrower seems to be more stable, but requires more shoulder mobility.

Whoah. You are tight, tight, TIGHT! Be proud.

I agree that behind neck pressing is just all-around badness. All the big names say it puts too much stress on the shoulder joint to be useful and that it should be stricken from our collective workout logs.

And what is yt with this place that everybody works out in their garage?

because the garage is where ā€œother peopleā€ are not

and cuz most gyms wont let us drop the weights

CG Incline BP
125x5
145x3
165x3
185x3
210 1x10 sets

High Bar Squat
205 3x2 sets
235x3
265x3
295x2
belt on
320 1x10 sets

That’s all. Did last 6 sets with a belt. The side of my lower back that still has half the disk was hurting a bit today. Weird. Deadlifts bother it not at all so far, but these high bar squats irritate it.

Clean and jerk plus pullups tomorrow.

Huh. Looks like I won the Virtual Bench Press meet. There was only one other guy in it and I had age and bodyweight on him (Kimba and Snapper, no!).

You can see it here if you can stand it.

It would be cool if T-Nation had a similar capability as virtualmeet. There are so many competitors here who would rarely or never get to compete against each other… Seems like a natural fit for the site given everything else they do.
