A win, is a win, is a win. Nice job!
That’s awesome news on the virtual meet. And a very interesting idea that could be a real winner: virtual meets for T-Nation readers.
That snatch-squat-hold looks painful. In a character-building way, of course.

It’s the problem of being front-side dominant. That hold is difficult due to the fact that I’m
- not flexible enough and
- I’m not strong enough in the supporting muscles.
I think it’s a move I’m going to grow to love, much like squats used to be for me. The first time I hit a true snatch I know I’m going to fall in love and take off with it. I feel I’m close, very close to doing a true snatch.

Huh. Looks like I won the Virtual Bench Press meet. There was only one other guy in it and I had age and bodyweight on him (Kimba and Snapper, no!).
You can see it here if you can stand it.
It would be cool if T-Nation had a similar capability as virtualmeet. There are so many competitors here who would rarely or never get to compete against each other… Seems like a natural fit for the site given everything else they do.

Couldn’t we do a meet via forum thread for the 35+ and PW folks. Post your videos, get someone to act as judge, and then compare wilkes formulas?
DCA, have you checked out the kid (with a sideways video doing a “snatch” with an EZ curl bar) asking Pendlay for a “form check”? I know it’s bad form, pun intended, to laugh at a newbie asking for advice, but that was just too much to handle.
I think that’s your chance to throw in one of your vids and ask for Pendlay’s critique. After teh EZ curl snatcheroo, you are going to be a godsend!!!

What do I have to do to finish last?
2011-1-11
Clean&Jerk
135xa few
165xa couple
190 1x10 sets
Pullups
BWx5
+75 2x4,5,2
That was just enough. Power cleaned everything tonight. Last three jerks were approaching normal. Got really light-headed on the 9th clean and had to hold the rack position for a while until it cleared.
I gotta admit that I have no idea how wilkes formula is figured. Do you know?

That would work too.

I saw that. The kid is clueless that he’s clueless.
I think Carl’s input is just as good. One coach at a time is best, I think.

Nothing…literally.

It is and has done wonders for my testosterone. When will you be in town?
Carl Darby wrote:
Keep it up. I want to be right in my prediction that you will eventually tear things up in Masters Weightlifting. That’s easy to wish for since you will always be an age group or two behind me. Don’t have to worry about the competition.
Seriously? You think if I stick with it I might be competitive in my age/weight class?
I’d be right over, if it weren’t for this darned blizzard… ![]()

Yes, seriously. I know you’re not there yet, but in the 50-54 age group and 85kg weight class, 100/125 would be enough to win nationals most years. You are about at 80/100 now but with the strength to do much more. If you keep pounding the technique, that alone should be enough to get you to that level and beyond.
And some more thoughts, get Pendlay to look at you videos if you can. I almost never disagree with what he says, and he is much more knowledgeable and experienced than I am. He can probably see things and make suggestions that would never occur to me.

The following equation is used to calculate the Wilks Coefficient. The total weight lifted is multiplied by the Coefficient to find the standard amount lifted normalized across all body weights.
x is the body weight of the lifter in kilograms
Coefficients for men are:
a=-216.0475144
b=16.2606339
c=-0.002388645
d=-0.00113732
e=7.01863E-06
f=-1.291E-08
Coefficients for women are:
a=594.31747775582
b=-27.23842536447
c=0.82112226871
d=-0.00930733913
e=0.00004731582
f=-0.00000009054

Gonna make me google the actual formula myself, are ya?
edit: Whoops! …and there’s the graphic…
