Clean and Jerk

195x1
205x1.0,0 (cleans are way off)
Hang Cleans

175 3x3 (baseline PR)
Still doing the second pull too early. Puts me out of position to receive.

Agreed. Only by a fraction of a second, but yes, too early. Maybe lowering the weight to just below knees on the hang snatches will give you a better rhythm. Bring the hips in hard. The pull from the floor looked better than the hang pulls.
you’ve come a long way baby!
I’d say they’re looking good for less than 3 months traing the O-lifts. Aren’t you using those bumper plates? If so, why so careful dropping them? Just waiting until you can get that platform built I guess.
Happy New Year pale one!

Thanks soldog.
I do drop them when my wife is not home. The noise and shaking scares her.

Yeah, that 205 was done mostly correctly. The subsequent misses looked like the hang cleans. Funny that the hang cleans felt better than the full range pull, though. I’ll give lowering the hangs cleans more a try. Thank you for the advice Carl.
This is such a game of centimeters.
And milliseconds.
A miss @205 for comparison
I’m trying to ‘get around,’ more.
Just saying hi!
I’ve been so impressed over the past few months how far you’ve come and how much you persevere with the Oly lifts. I so badly want to incorporate this type of lifting back into my training. I used to love this stuff. But the timing’s not right yet for me. For now, I can do so vicariously through you and Carl.
Happy New Year to my favorite albino! Thanks for all the entertainment and virtual company this past year.

It’s hard right now because I’m having to backtrack and work technique rather than add weight. I HATE that. But, by the same token, the very persnickety-ness of the lifts is holding my interest. A whole new avenue of PR’s has opened for me.
I like what’s happening to my legs, too, from all the squatting.

More warmup might have been good, but I didn’t have any patience. Didn’t feel like training today and felt like last night’s supper left out, but I got the work done.
Tried pressing with the elbows out a little more today. IT’s a smoother press but harder getting the bar off the shoulders. Going to stick with it because it feels right.
I’m really slow off the floor with deadlifts, but rocket to lockout. Might have to try some halting deadlifts.

Really enjoying the new direction of your training, I may have to venture out of the familiar territory of the power clean just to see what muscles get hit differently.
I’m guessing the high bar squats may recruit a bit more quad, might help with breaking the bar from the floor.

Yeah - I need to do some more of those, definitely. Paused, probably.
