Semper ubi sub ubi.

Cleans
195x2

Lucky to get through this today. My cleans were garbage but I got two pretty good jerks @195. I’m blaming the crappy cleans on yesterday’s deadlifts.

edit: vid didn’t upload looks like so I put the U-toob link in.

Nice job on the weightlifting. Your form is really improving.

Thanks for the funny.

The jokes, of course.

That clean was not so bad at all. Good positions, very minimal premature elbow bend, good pop of the thighs, hard to tell from this angle, but the bar path looked pretty good (forward-backward movement of the bar). Could be snappier pulling under. Jerk looked better too.

Wow.

I guess that’s another good reason to have a coach, to override one’s sense of crappiness when warranted - because I FELT like my cleans were crap and a little out in front. I widened my grip by about 4 inches to make the jerk better and it felt like I should have been starting the second pull higher up the thighs in order to keep the bar in close. Implemented the “soft arms” on the jerk and I had one really sweet jerk where the bar went up to a certain height and stayed there. There wasn’t any catch, per se, it was pure support - no downward momentum to absorb at all.

coming right along with the oly lifts aren’t you?

what did you end up using for your lifting pad? looks almost like heavy black rubber, but that would be too soft wouldn’t it?

I haven’t yet built the platform. Those are just my usual mats. I’ll be putting those over the plywood I’ll buy once I get paid for this upcoming contract job.

Since I’m training in my garage, does that make me a house-cleaner? I’m already employed in that case!

And why, exactly, are you a love machine?

Loved the jokes.

And I’m really enjoying following along on your Oly learning adventures. I’m thinking I have to give that shit a go again.

'Cuz I won’t work for nobody but you. And nlmain - as the house “cleaner.” And for kimba - as something funny(sure, she said it was the jokes, but I know what she really means).

Okay, I’m easy. Sue me.

I had to make up for the quadruple post somehow.

You should. The lifts are very persnickety and therefore absorbing to someone like me. I spend hours thinking about them, lately.

Your job wouldn’t be difficult, and dare I say it – enjoyable.
