Momentum and Inertia

Nice job on the snatches and c&j. I have a similar issue getting under the db in my db snatches. Right now the weights are still light enough that I can usually get it up there, but I foresee limitations.

Jeez. Maybe I DO need to get some gear…

Damn…

That reminds me so much of Mike Mcdonald (not of the Dobbies) back in the 70s. Guy looked like a non lifter and benched near 600 at 220, raw.

shit that’s some crazy pulling.

And he pulls in no gear. Cripes.

He’s a lean one. And notice that he pulls conventional.

Jerks from the rack
95x3
125x3
145x3
165x3
185 3x1

Cleans
185 1x3

Clean and Press
150x5

Choked it there. I’m feeling pretty bad. Nothing hurts but nothing feels good. Couple days rest will set it right.

Did you watch his form though? I know the view was from the front but it “looked” like crap. Obviously strong as hell but it seems like some people can just pulll with any old form for some reason.

His form certainly wasn’t spot on. But it often isn’t on a max pull. I know mine isn’t. But I think when training, pulling for reps, form should be tantamount.

Well he’s young (22) and still bulletproof.

Drop snatches
95 3x3
125 2x3

Snatches
125 3x3

Nothing heavy, just trying to get what technique practice I can. Virtual meet in 2 days. Keeps the joints loose and maybe get some more stretch in the shoulders so I can get that bar back behind my head. Almost went backwards on one set of the drop snatches which I think is actually a good sign. I also tried to take the first pull more slowly per Carl Darby’s description. I can tell I simply need more strength across the backs of the shoulders so I can support/control the weights. More overhead squats needed for certain.

Every time I see the new title of your thread I want to tell you that there’s a cream for it.

You realise you look about 14 years old in your videos with that shaggy hair cut. Nevertheless, the lifts look impressive to my untrained eye. However, I think you need more space. You’re gonna trip and put an eye out.

Like a couple of other people, I have bumper plate envy. I’m hoping to score a few myself. What kind of bar are you using?

That’s actually a non-haircut is what that is.

It’s a Burgener-Rippetoe bar. It’s not really made for this, but it’s adequate. The Ivanko bars at my non-garage gym feel better on the quick lifts.

I was just thinking this week that you should do a garage sale or donate to charity and clean up your space a bit.

I’ve often wondered how you can do such complex lifts in such a tiny space. Where there’s no room for error. Makes me nervous watching your vids.

Yeah good point, at that age I could pound tequila all night long and be up at it for PT the next morning.

Good luck on the meet, give’em hell.

He’s doing Olympic Lift “instability” Training it’s the latest thing.

Doing snatches and clean and jerks while avoiding various obstacles (old PC’s, washer/dryers, bikes etc) great for stimulating the CNS.
