Momentum and Inertia

I don’t know much about snatching but it looks like you’re almost there. Do you ever do laundry while lifting? Looks like the washer/dryer is right there.

The full snatch is without a doubt the hardest lift, technique wise, there is. I tend to power snatch, mainly because I just can’t bloody learn to drop and pull myself under the bar!

Someday when I grow up, I wanna be like DCA, and have my own fan club.

Good to see you back, Deferred One.

That’s actually the freezer. I often put the camera on the dryer, though, so yup, I do do laundry while training sometimes.

Are those PCs, pushed up against the front of the freezer?

Glad to have you back, Tony. Sorry to hear about the meet. But nice to see you still after it.

Yep. I have about 5 obsolete, good-for-nothing PCs that I can’t seem to dispose of.

Excellent work here white monkey dude.

My main home workstation is coming up on 10 years in service (Dell). Still kicking.

I still have an HP from 1998 (PIII) and my very first “PC” (P1 100) from 1995 (college). I still have my very first computer-- an Atari 800 XL (64k RAM), 1050 Floppy drive, and MPP 2400 baud modem (mid 80’s) out in a bin in the shed.

I scored a Dell Poweredge 1900 with a Xeon Quad core 64-bit CPU and 4 GB of ram…and it’s still too small for what I need it to do. I need 2-4 virtual machines each with an Oracle RAC database or a Weblogic app server running on it. both products want a lot of memory. I’d like to spend the 300 bucks or so and double the memory some time.

Snatches
135 10 or so

Good to see you back here regular like and I’m really jealous of those new bumper plates!

They make me very, very happy. Looks like I have to put together that platform now so I don’t beat my bar to hell.

Nicely done on the squat. The cinderblock “rails” are ingenius. Have you ever had to use them, and if so did they work?

I did paused squats on them a while back. I never use enough weight to where I would fail catastrophically, so if I do fail, I just squat back down until the weight rests on them. They seem to be up to the job.

Dislocates, dislocates and dislocates.

Overhead Squats
95x8,10

Snatches
95x5
125 2x5
145x1,1
155 1x4

These are looking a lot better. 2nd pull is coming along, but I’m still not dropping under the bar when the weight gets heavy

Clean and Jerk
195 x pressed it out
195x1

I was tired by the time I got here. Not splitting well, nor pulling myself under the bar here either.

Front Squats
195x3
225x3

Would a platform need to be any more than 4 sheets of plywood screwed together to make an 8x8 area? That’s what I put together to put my rack on and protect my floor. Unfortunately, now the ceiling is too low to press a bar with 45’s on it overhead…

That’s about it. I was looking at home depot today at the different grades. I can spend $80 or I can spend $50, depending on the thickness. I think thicker is better, no?

I went with OSB 3/4" sheathing. Something like this:
http://www.homedepot.com/Lumber-Composites-Plywood-Sheathing-Subfloor/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xhfZbqm7/R-100078559/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053

I like the OSB because it has no voids. It also has a smooth side. I put the rough side together and then used 1-1/2" deck screws to attach them. You may want to use shorter screws if you are laying it directly on concrete. I’m on top of carpet so if the screws poked through, they just bite the carpet a little.

that snatch is already looking more controlled!

Thanks, nlmain. I was pretty pleased with tonight’s weightlifting in that I didn’t drop a single lift and am starting to pop the second pull nicely. If I can start getting the bar further back at the top and get under it better, I might be able to put up some decent poundages soon.
