Momentum and Inertia

20 lbs of whey and the rest of my bumpers should be showing up this week. Woohoo!

Lovely. Lovely.

Call me weird, but sometimes I like the crazy energy of the gym.

Farmer Brett had the same question I had about squatting off a freestanding rack like that with no safeties. It makes me nervous to watch you. You’re far, far braver than I.

Everytime I see your videos, I think you remind me of someone. You didn’t star in the Canadian “Anne of Green Gables” series, did you?
Yes - I was Anne.

The corsets were awfully uncomfortable.
Damn! I just laughed coffee thru my nose!!

Which whey do you use?

thats some all around fine lifting.

Any which whey but loose and any whey I can.

I bought it from BuyBulkWhey Dot Com. Decent prices. I just got plain because the flavored ones have sucralose in them. Can’t stand the taste of sucralose.

And thank you Joe - and all of you - for your kind comments.

I knew I was going to have a good session before I even walked in the place. I felt great.

You did all that in one session? Impressive.

Thanks.

Yup - it’s my mini-meet strategy. I’m doing all three lifts as in a meet (plus my presses and a little assistance), but only doing openers for three singles. I went kinda cuckoo today, though.

That’s amazing. All that volume. And a 500 DL with a chuckle at the top.

25 Hour Flatness. That’s where I usually train. It has a cage with my name on it.

gotta love the 500# DL with the laugh - esp. when you were only to work up to openers…

Very, very nice. Great work.

I’ve got DL form just about pegged to where I’m not pulling until I’m in perfect position for my leverages to do so. Stuff feels like it’s flying up. That was the easiest 500 I’ve ever done - so easy I’m actually questioning whether the face value of the plates was correct. Hopefully I can get in enough practice before the meet to make it auto-magical.

I saw something interesting today regarding the rack. Some fella had set the catcher-bars up high and was doing what I call 1-Armed Viking presses. Pressing weight was on one end and the sleeve of the other end is on the catcher bar with a 2 25’s straddling that. Collar keeps the 25’s on. Grab the sleeve of the working end and press it up. Granted it was 8 inches above his shoulders at start, but it’s an interesting idea worth stealing.

I’m surprised they let you dead lift at a 24 Hour Fitness, especially when you were chuckling with a weight that would have buried anybody else in the place.

I think I can picture it. A bit like a T-bar row set up with the low end locked in place and press out on the other end. Couldn’t you get the same effect by just cleaning a heavy DB with both hands and press it overhead with one. A la strongman training? It sounds like the sort of exercise you’d get chucked out a gym for doing. Could you imagine what would happen if the collar slipped?.

Thats absolutely outstanding pulling.

x2 Outstanding pulling and a great workout all the way 'round.

Looking very strong. All the singles at opening weights must be doing a lot for your confidence. This meet is going to go smoothly.

wow. I wish I could pull 500, even without the maniacal laughter

If I’m picturing this right it sounds very similar to an old shot putters exercise. Laughing at the end of a lift now? Next thing you know you’ll be getting emotional at the beginning. just saying.
