Momcanlift.... The ReBeginning

Two jobs and the gym, and all this after surgery? You have my respect. Some good numbers there, even if you could do more before.

Glad your surgery went well. You certainly aren’t letting it slow you down over here.

Congrats on the upcoming wedding! I married my college sweetheart 20 years ago. I’d choose him again. Best decision of my life.

Thank you (both)! I hope to get back to recording max efforts on my climb back up to be able to watch, recall, share etc.

Ok. Max (meet) BS is 190. Max DL (gym) is 250. Max BP (gym) is 130. I dont know if its postop, working too many hours, sleeping to little, donating blood, dieting, hormones…whatever but an aggrevating 2 days. I am not pleased with my numbers and the next attempt at maxes WILL be better.

I ramp my maxes slowly and do practically nothing else that day. You should be taking a full 10 minute break between sets.

I do not max out the same lifts on the same day - nor the same week. fries your CNS.

and I do not do them while dieting either.

I’m guessing those are not your maxes. which is good news oui?

Oui! I get very impatient
Working every day, but still fitting in as much as I can, just got behind in logging so I am catching up:

Still 157. Wedding is 15 days away…!

do you still have a lot of planning to do for the wedding or is it all wrapped up?

The wedding is finally a memory… We were so busy the two weeks before the wedding it was crazy (of course). It was all I could do to train a couple times per week. I weighed 155.0 on the wedding day and proceeded to eat tons, drink more, and not exercise outside of the cruise room on the honeymoon - which resulted in a mighty weight gain yet again but I loved every minute of it! We are home, settling in to normal routines again, happy and in love, and very ready to get back to it. I just maxed out last weekend and decided to return to 5/3/1 powerlifting training in hopes of getting my numbers back and setting new records. I want to compete in a raw PL meet in November. All time best PR’s are BS 190, BP 130, DL 250. My goal is to get set new PR’s at the November meet.

Today is day one of a total juice fast/cleanse/detox… whatever you want to call it. I have reduced my caffeine intake from very high and all day long to once daily the past three days in an attempt to get ready and only ate solid food twice (once of which was raw veggies) yesterday. I have a horrid headache, I am fatigued. I am concerned about my ability to seriously go a week without any solid food but for the next week I am surving on fruit and vegetable juice. Since I am not sure what this means to my training routine, I am repeating this cycle even though I hit the minimums (especially since I only hit the minimums). If I am weak from this change I will know that at least it is weights I have recently lifted. If I meet the same numbers then its a little extra training practice before moving on. Rinse and repeat is simple and feels do-able regardless of the sickly way I look and feel at the moment.

Uh, why? I understand the desire to detox, but going without protein seems nuts to me.

Yeah. I am really worried about that - it will be 50g of protein per day which is nothing and all non-heme iron (vegetable protein and iron is not as bio-available). I have had digestive problems for over 3 years. I had a marker test done where you swallow a capsule of markers and 5 days later check via xray to be sure they cleared your system. None cleared my GI system in 5 days - some were still in the small intestine. I did a barium swallow test 9 days after swallowing the markers. It’s supposed to take average of an hour to monitor the 2 cups of barium you drink passing through the system to the colon. It took 3 hours, an extra cup of barium, a lot of moving an manipulating via gravity - oh and the markers were still in my system from 9 days earlier. I am desperate and trying to avoid the doc putting me on a daily pills because meds just aren’t my thing. I eat around 8 servings of fruits and veggies per day, drink a minimum of a gallon of water per day, and exercise regularly. I have always felt most of our bodily issue can be managed with proper nutrition, hydration, lack of chemicals, and adequate rest. My body is putting my beliefs to the test.

I do not know if it will work, but I know I will not want to have the conversation with the doctor about what next if I hadn’t made one last natural effort. Today was day one without food and it pretty much sucks. Actually, the caffeine withdrawal is what is kicking my tail. I guess at least I’ll gain freedom from my ridiculous caffeine intake even if it doesn’t work wonders for my GI. Good thing I do not compete until November…
